No the solution is to look at every season differently. This season you lost all your offensive production and had a lot of unknowns through out your roster so all the preseason predictions were based on unknown.

Next year your preseason prediction should be different and expectations should be hire because all the problems you had coming into this season you have fixed for going into next season. You return majority of your production and don’t have a lot of question marks. Next year should be 10-2 at absolute minimum expectations with 11-1 or 12-0 as a real possibility.

Do what you want to do, but most of us look at our two deep, look at our schedule and our opponents attrition and try and predict how we fit in.

Then we follow the team, note issues and injuries and suspensions to see how all that goes.

And once we start scrimmaging and practicing we try and ascertain if we gave issues or not.

By that time many draw a conclusion as to how we will fare. It's all part of being a fan.

Sounds like a ton of bullshite to praise other teams and do anything possible to minimize the Tiger’s season.

Maybe you should be Gator1988?

beating expectations?

Whose expectations? That's why preseason polls are worthless.
Miami and Auburn were also preseason top 10. All terrible predictions.

LSU had more talent than 11 of the 13 teams they played this year. Looks like they did what they should have done this year, maybe a little worse.

The fallacy that LSU exceeded expectations is pure PR from LSU and O's paid pumpers on this board. Which is working because most people can't think for themselves, they believe what they read.

They exceeded my expectations

I thought we would fall off a cliff, I have no problem saying we seem to be competitive in the West.

Bama is our nemesis but they are everyone’s

Why should we pat ourselves on the back for a great season simply because our expectations were wrong?

It was a very Les Miles season. We had one great signature win. We beat a couple of teams we thought we might lose to. We lost to a couple of teams we thought we should have beat. We had one terrible defeat. We had a very good recruiting class that gives us hope for the future.

I tend to view Vegas as a better judge of performance due to large quantities of real money on the line. It also takes into account opponents performances during the season modifying expectations. LSU went 6-6 against the spread. I'd say that's pretty even keel for performance. Fireable offense - of course not. Super pat on the back performance - not really.

ESPN did a segment on what streaks would be broken this season. One was LSUs bowl appearance streak. They said it would be broken because LSU wouldn’t win 6 games this year

And will finish in the top 10. Purely from an outside perspective, isn’t that beating expectations?

Please don't forget the fact that we were picked by "every" so call expert plus Vegas to have a 6 win season.

It absolutely is. Only the O-hating idiots on this board will claim otherwise.

And UGA was exposed for what they were - a team that had one good win against a questionable UF team at a neutral site.

An 11-win team that nearly beat Bama and went to the CFP. Played bowl game without their Thorpe award DB.

a questionable UF team

A 10-win team that demolished a top-10 Michigan team.

You are really bad at categorizing football teams.

Show me one Vegas sports book that had an over/under of 6.

I guess if we begin next season in the top 10 and experience similar geometric progression up the rankings we'll win 5 national championships next season.

Before this year, we haven't had a final ranking higher than our preseason ranking since 2011. It's about damn time.

LSU was ranked that low b/c O herp derped a loss to Troy State and was blown out by Miss St last year.

But congrats on Les Miles 2.0

They were predicted to end up outside of the top 25 because of the schedule. Which wasn’t as difficult as “experts” thought.

So, LSU ended up with the 3rd hardest schedule instead of the hardest.

And yes, LSU was #24 in the preseason Coaches Poll.
