Sadly Scotty put him in that spot with his poor handling of the wade firing. It’s a miracle he got anyone to stay considering what Scotty pulled. Scott has had some major wins but he dropped the ball on how he handled the wade dismissal/ sacrificial lamb for bull shite that is completely legal now.

Team finding out via Twitter was a bad pr move. It shouldn’t have been that hard to pull them in a room and tell them in person.

I hope you are right, but I am struggling to see them as a middle of the pack SEC team. Our bigs are very limited and not very athletic. The top of the SEC this year will be really good.

Same here - been a bit disappointed in KJ, thought he'd be a bit more productive - and maybe he will but considering the competition we've had I expected better.

While if it happened during the NIL era the conversation would have never happened but what Wade is accused of is still illegal. The coach of the team can’t talk about payments directly.

I don’t like that Wade was fired. Was a huge fan but I get why Woodward did it. Odds are Wade is going to get hit with a show cause when all the penalties comes out and Woodward would’ve had to get rid of him anyway so he basically just ripped the bandaid off earlier. I also fully believe Woodward and Emmert had a conversation and in that conversation it was mentioned that if you fire Wade the penalties on the university will be lessened.

It's not your imagination. In 3 games, they move the ball better on offense and switch better on defense than last year's team. They just don't have the athletic freaks that last year's team had.

Right now it seems that KJ, Reed, and Fountain will be the big men that play when we get to conference. Both Reed and Fountain have thin frames so we'll see how they hold up.

McMahon mentioned before that he likes an 8 man rotation so with those 3 big men we'll also have Hill, Miller, Wilkerson, Hannibal, and Williams
I don't see how he sticks to an 8 man rotation. Players 8-10 offer different things that could be useful in different situations.

Right now KJ, Reed, Fountain, JHill, Miller, Mwani, and Hannibal are solidly in the rotation.

Until last night, the offense was struggling. They moved the ball better, but I wouldn't say it was great. LSU currently ranks 150 in assist per made FG, and 96th in offensive efficiency. Again though, this is still a work in progress.

Defensively they have been solid in the first three...but nowhere close to how last year's team started out. LSU switched everything incredibly well last season and was flat out dominating better opponents than what this team has played early on. This group hasn't been on that level.

If you want to make comparisons between this team and last year's team (which is silly to do) last years team was SIGNIFICANTLY better out of the gate than this group. That doesn't mean this group can't and won't improve. But it's silly to say "oh, this team looks much more well coached than last year's team." That's just unequivocally false at the moment.

Some things I am seeing,

I think we can be a good 3pt shooting team we shot 42% last night with Miller going 1-7, I don't think he will have many days like that (Hopefully). And we seem to be a good on ball defense team, all the starters look like they have to ability to guard, the weakness right now seems to be they get confused on switches which hopefully something that gets corrected.

Rebounding is going to be tough in the SEC, KJ is gonna be okay but its that second big position that I feel we are going to rotate out a lot between Reed/Fountain/Coleman.

And then the one thing I am not liking is Hannibal initiating the offense as much as he does, I'd rather see Miller or Justice Williams getting that opportunity, I think they have more potential with the ball in there hands.

I'm not quite ready to go that far yet. While I fully agree there won't be many nights Miller misses than many open looks, a big reason why they shot 42% last night is Hill and Hayes had uncharacteristically good nights from deep. The question, especially for Hill, is if he can consistently shoot well from 3 against good competition. If so, I think LSU will be a solid 3 point team.

Yep. I'm still unsure if Williams can be a force night in and night out against SEC play. LSU will need another post presence. Reed has the physical tools to be a good SEC player. You can just see he is trying to adapt to college basketball right now. Still, I keep starting him even though the numbers aren't great at the moment. You are going to need him to be an impact player come January. Fountain played hard on both ends of the floor last night and was LSU's best player. While maybe not quite that level of play, LSU will need him to be a key contributor. And he has significant SEC experience.

I'm ok with it early on. The problem is Hannibal is not a good shooter, so teams will really start to sag on him. However, he is easily LSU's most explosive player and provides instant "juice" to a team that can sometimes seem sort of lethargic. You can see the pace pick up when he is in...even if he is sometimes a bit out of control. Hopefully Williams's injury isn't significant, but it was encouraging to see Hayes play well. He arguably has the most high-major experience on the team. I don't expect him to shoot it as well as he did last night every game. But if he can be another playmaker from the PG spot that could be big as the season goes on.

I agree with this. Three games with all the changes that have gone on is not near enough to judge coaching. McMahon definitely has a more laid back coaching style than Wade but that doesn't
mean better or worse. I did notice him getting into it with K. J. Williams off the court but of course had no idea what the problem was.

Any word on why Ward isn't seeing the court?
