Somehow Ole Miss, Georgia and Vandy have won the SECT.

It does piss me off we can't win one. That 05 loss to Kentucky was an absolute heartbreaker. If I remember right, Chuck Hayes got some miracle rebound and threw it up and it landed to win the game.

I thought I forgot about that one. Damn it still hurts.

Just read the recap. It was Bass who put up the miracle shot to force OT and Hayes put up a shot over Davis to win. But we had time to win and Tac turned it over lololol

In the regular season yes not necessarily a tournament. The regular season is an honor that proves your team was better than everyone else over a couple of months not one weekend in single elimination games.

I think it’s dumb that the NCAA tourney gives auto bids to tournament champs instead of regular season champs. I get why they do it to draw interest and blah blah blah but it’s still dumb.

LSU also played in the 1987 championship game and lost to Bama after winning 3 games to get there, which they needed. Dale Brown only emphasized the SECT when he needed wins to help get in the NCAAT. would be nice to make a little run at least once in a while. Sometimes it helps u get for the the big tourney, like Auburn a few years ago

Each conference decides how to give their auto bid.

Then it is the conferences that are dumb especially the one bid leagues. Doesn’t mean anything to the P5 conferences their regular season champ is getting in no matter what.

The conference tournaments are revenue generators. THAT'S why the conferences like them. So in order to draw more interest in the tournament (i.e. money via attendance, TV contracts, advertising, host city bids, etc) the tournaments have to be meaningful. Particularly for the one-bid leagues.

Yes, it is silly (especially for the one-bid conferences) to ignore a full season of work and but some much emphasis on 3-4 days in March, but there is more that goes into that decision than "fairness" or merit to the teams. The league is trying to make money.
