What big games? Florida St?

I mean our SEC games were about as poorly attended as I've seen as a long time season ticket holder. I even had trouble wanting to go. That being said I am hopeful for a decent product on the court.

Otherwise, LSU was 0-3 by the time they played Arkansas at home (which was somewhat well attended). By the time #1 Auburn rolled into town at the end of January LSU was 1-5 in SEC play with an average margin of defeat of nearly 11 ppg.

Exactly why I think it's okay that our schedule isn't chalk full of tough opponents. We get plenty of tough games in SEC play.

They will lose a minimum of 4 of those games. Then another 4 win SEC. One more of the NcJoke Show and maybe they will find a real coach.

As bad as the men’s non-conference home schedule is, and it’s terrible, the women’s NC home schedule is even worse. I’m a season ticket holder for both and between the two teams there’s not one high-caliber NC home game on the slate this season. There’s no excuse for this kind of crap. Season ticket holders are getting hosed. Both programs should be ashamed for treating their fans this way, but of course they’re not. It’s truly embarrassing!

So......you have a coach who is likely coaching for his livelihood and a program that has almost no interest going into the season and you compound that by putting together maybe the worst home OOC schedule ever? And that's saying a lot because we have had plenty of bad one's the last couple of decades.

Man, this is pretty pathetic, I'm literally going to have to force myself to go to games and I'm as big an LSU basketball fan as there is. This really depresses me.

The fact is that we blew a sizable second half lead in that game. But of course, I’m sure you knew that already being the authority on LSU sports

It's ok to admit you just looked at the name Dayton and in the zeal to criticize McMahon lumped them in with inferior programs on name value alone without realizing they were actually a good team the year LSU lost to them. It wasn't a "WTF" loss equivalent to losing to Nichols. The bottom line is while MM's non-conf. schedules have generally sucked, he's only lost to one of the numerous lower mid-major team's he's scheduled. So to assume it is a matter of course he will lose to another this year is disingenuous and contrary to actual facts.

No, I just don't like unsupported hyperbole..which what saying MM will lose to a bad low major team this year despite only losing to one in his LSU career is. My apologize for not simply going along with the narrative. But if you are going to have an opinion at least have a factual basis for it.

There are a LOT of things to rip MM about (and I have). Losing several games to bad mid-major teams simply isn't one of them.

McMahon loves these garbage OOC slates so they go into SEC play with a decent record before finishing at the bottom of the league.

yes, it really prepares you for the tough conference slate

Man that at home schedule sucks.

We might be able to get 1 or 2 quad two games out of this schedule.

Confirmation that LSU will be perfectly ok having <2000 people at the pmac in Nov & Dec

They confirmed that in March.

Of course. But playing a good non-conf. schedule can give you a much greater margin for error in conf. play. Like I said with OU last year. They only won 6 SEC...yet farily comfortably made the NCAA. The reason was because they played and beat some really good non-conf. opponents.

Chris Jans has yet to have a winning record in SEC play in any season at Miss. St. Yet, he's reached the NCAA Tournament every year. Why? Because he's always beat some good teams in the non-conf. to give MSU the buffer to survive losing more SEC games than he wins. Not playing very many (if any) really good non-conf. opponents limits your opportunity to get such wins. That means you have to win even more conf. games than some other teams to get to the NCAAT. That's why 2024 MSU (8-10 in SEC play) got in the NCAAT while LSU (9-9) barely backed into the NIT.

This isn't football. Losses don't really kill you. It's not beating anyone worth a shite that does. So it's foolish to not given yourself as many opportunities as reasonably possible to get good wins.

EDT: I don't like Nate Oats. But even before Alabama had really establish themselves as a power he wasn't shying away from playing big time opponents in non-conf. play. Doing so not only gives Alabama a lot of opportunities for good/great wins, it also gets their fans engaged early in the season. When your fans get to watch you play the likes of Gonzaga, Houston, Purdue, Illinois, Creighton, North Carolina, UConn all before SEC play even starts they pay attention in Nov & Dec.

Over the last three years, soon to be this year, it would be difficult to walk on LSU's campus in Nov and Dec and find 2 of 10 kids that knew LSU even had a game that night.

Those Dec 13 games in NO are TWO separate tickets, both expensive. I purchased two already for the WBB game. I will wait on getting the MBB tickets, wait to see if we are even competitive.

The women's game will outdraw the men.

I've hated Mulkey's scheduling but at least for her games you get to see a good team beating down scrubs.

Damn I am going to make that Texas Tech game

I'm in DFW so I'll hit that game. Although it will likely be a brutal beatdown. I wish LSU would have hired McCasland.

Will Wade has always known how to build a schedule that puts his team in position to make the tournament.

NC State is playing 5 schools in OOC that made last year's tournament:

Liberty (12) - 1st Round
Ole Miss (6) - Sweet 16
Kansas (7) - 1st Round
Auburn (1) - Final 4
VCU (11) - 1st Round

LSU is playing 3 schools in OOC that made last year's tournament:

Omaha (15) - 1st Round
Drake (11) - 2nd Round
Texas Tech (3) - Elite 8

And we took Omaha's best player right off their team (Sutton), and they werent even remotely good last year, just won a very weak league. They lost TEN OOC games, including double digits to Alabama St, Abilene Christian, Montana St, Northern Iowa and got absolutely beat down by Iowa St and St. Johns.

Drake has a new coach and their entire team left with their old coach. It's probably a much worse OOC than it even appears

How embarrassing would it be though for us to take Omaha's best player from them and then we lose to them at home....you know their coach will be out to prove a point in that one.

2024 NET Rankings for neutral site games.

Drake: 56
Georgia Tech: 109
Depaul: 119
Boston College: 202
Texas Tech: 7
SMU: 46

2 Q1 vs Texas Tech and SMU (going to be blowouts)
1 Q2 vs Drake
2 Q3 vs Georgia Tech and Depaul
1 Q4 vs Boston College

Of the 8 non-conferece home games, 7 Q4 and 1 technically Q3 (Omaha is 160).

It's going to be impossible for LSU to have a decent NET or BPI with a non-conference schedule like this. That SOS will be an anchor even if LSU manages to finish above expectations.

NET or BPI isn't the point when you're in self preservation mode.

Where LSU finishes in the SEC standings is totally irrelevant. As in it's not even a factor considered by the selection committee. As for the non-conf. schedule it looks REALLY weak on paper. I wouldn't quite say it is "impossible" for LSU to have a decent NET. Just maybe unlikely.

Texas Tech is the only team you feel confident will be very good. The hope is that the other teams on the list are better than expected. Drake lost their HC and top players...but they did that the year before and still had a tremendous season last year. No one else in that group moves the needle. But, I guess the only saving grace is that all of those games are away from home...which counts for more in the NET ratings. While it sucks for LSU fans that there will be little excitement in the PMAC in Nov/Dec., it at least gives LSU more opportunities for "good" wins. The problem is they almost have to win them all to set up anything going into the conf. schedule.
