Why is there so many players entering the transfer portal?

Probably the same reason there are close to 500 non-LSU players that have entered the transfer portal since the middle of March.

How are people still not getting this? Never mind the fact that it has been explained numerous times already; but it is very simple.
NCAA, while granting an extra year of eligibility to seniors, did nothing to increase the number of scholarships allowed or the roster limit of 35 (except to not count returning seniors against that number). Combine that with the likelihood of MLB having a reduced draft, meaning we don’t lose as many current players or recruits to the draft as in a normal year, and you are left with an over abundance of talented players. Therefore someone has to go in order to still meet the 35 player roster limit.
Not that hard to understand.

Per today's Advocate: The Tigers signed a recruiting class of 17 players, and though the NCAA increased roster limits to accommodate returning seniors, the rest of the team must fit within 35-man restrictions.
With Major League Baseball allowed to shorten its draft to as few as five rounds this summer, college baseball may experience a surplus of players next year, creating roster crunches throughout the sport.

I think it may be you that needs to understand the meaning of the new rule. You sure you understand what happened accurately?

I understood just fine.
The part of the rule you quoted refers to seniors who decide to come back will not count against the 35 man roster, which is what I alluded to in my post.
So maybe it is your comprehension that you need to check at the door.
