I don’t follow when these guys committed, but how many in the lineup are Johnson commits vs Mainieri? Obviously Hurd and White are transfers. But what about the other guys?

For the record, this is not a coach comparison. Johnson is doing a great job so far.

Any transfers were Johnson, the only freshman that was Johnson is Shores (and noot, but he’s injured). Ackenhausen was Johnson. Most everyone else was previous staff. But any guys that were committed to the previous staff had to be re-recruited.

Tell that to the people who say Paul won in 09 with Smoke's players.

Kling decommitted technically and Johnson recruited him again.

Thanks. That is what I suspected. Mainieri had his recruiting lapses. But he really nailed the last couple classes.

I’d rather have Johnson in the dugout coaching and developing them.

I agree. Odd OP. Like it’s a backhanded swipe against CJJ.

And?
Just stating a fact. Baseball recruiting starts freshman year of high school for tons of prospects so we’ll still be going through guys Mainieri recruited for awhile.

The 2021 class is a pretty bad one as it stands right now, just made a post about this on the RB baseball thread.

2nd post on this page

Of the Top 9 high school recruits that class none are contributors on this team. 4 signed pro contracts, 4 transferred and 1 is injured out for season

Outside of them we had 8 more signees and only 1 of them is contributing anything really in Pearson who is currently starting but has been in and out of lineup.

It’s only one recruiting class, but i felt like Johnson did a much better job of getting the draft risk guys to campus. Seems like we would lose alot more with CPM.

No shite. We still have a guy on this team that committed to Andy Cannizzaro.

ETA: and we won’t be bringing any more guys committed to the old staff in after this incoming class. Everyone 2024 and beyond committed to the current head coach.

Paul did a great job getting players to campus like crews, Bregman, Nola, Gausman, Floyd, Jacoby Jones. Turtle Thomas though was the worst though all of his recruits would never make it to campus.

But anyone who watched smokes years and then 2008-2009 saw a huge difference.

That's my point.

Anyone that attributes 09 to Smoke is an idiot, just like if anyone attributes this season to Paul.
