There is a sizeable minority of us who are such radical egomaniacs that they don't think something happened if they, themselves, don't witness it.

The fact is that even though you weren't there to see it, Dawson participated in something called "practice". At these "practices" he got the very ABs that seem to concern you. Apparently he didn't do enough with them to warrant the coaches placing him in actual games.

Perhaps the truest words spoken here in a very long time. Someone who actually gets it....

It is like this for all sports, not just baseball. The coaches spend 20 hours a week with these kids. They see things that the rest of us don't see. Yes, coaches do make mistakes, but I will always defer to the coach in a situation like this.

It is pretty simple. Paul Mainieri enjoys being employed by LSU. He probably enjoys the money that he makes. He gets out of bed every day hoping to retain that employment. I just feel that he is going to put the players on the field that he believes are best suited to help him achieve that goal.

Problem is LSU could not afford to work McKay and Dawson into meaningful playing time while trying to win games

B/c they were too busy dropping midweek games. These are the games that guys should be getting some experience. However, according to the rant those games are meaningless.

He finally got his first 2 hits as a tiger against Grambling on April 13 yet only got 4 more ABs the last 2 months of the season.

So 2 hits vs. Grambling should have merited more playing time?

Apparently he did. They did "practice" all fall and prior to the season starting. Evidently they saw enough then for him at "practice" then to start at SS opening day. You don't go from opening day starting SS at LSU to 18 ABs due to bad "practices"

Also, "practice" ABs are a bit different than actual game ABs

Why not? It's the only 2 hits he got all year. Maybe that was the fire he needed. Instead he gets 4 ABs the remainder of the year

Trent Forshag went 1-1 with an RBI vs. Grambling. Maybe he should have gotten more playing time too, since success vs. Grambling is a benchmark for playing time.

Keep in mind LSU needs to move about 13 players. Discuss.

does that include the draft and graduation?

The current number is 8, when accounting for graduation and the draft signings.

Did I ever say that?

Great comparison BTW. A bullpen walk-on vs a scholarship opening day starter

you just assume the AB does not happen

ok, same thing could be said for every player on the team. Lets take Romero's 9 plate appearances away where he hit a HR then his slugging % sucks!! You can do what if's with any player!! Let's just agree that Bryce and Beau slumped at the end of the season but for the season as a whole Bryce did his job which was to get on base and Beau hit the ball well most of the season. If we use your logic then Greg deichman had the worst slump of all starters during the season and should have been benched but the coaches believed in him cause they seen him at practice everyday and sure enough he got hot at the end of the season. The coaches know what they are doing and obviously kept the Jordan boys in the line up for a reason.

Literally no one said they would be cut. That's absurd. But those of us talking about it like SM and Forever are just saying their starting spots are far from locked up. Sooo dramatic. I have a feeling the whole Jordan family is in this thread. So much white knighting.

Really? I haven't noticed any. Back to the initial reason for this thread- Big day today and tomorrow, several players will be making decisions about the draft.
My guesses:
Poche stays
Freeman goes
Bugg stays
Stallings goes

I agree except I'm selfishly hoping that Freeman returns

Hold on a minute. I don't have any inside info, but I'd bet my last dollar that his opening day start was a fulfillment of a recruiting promise. This happens a lot. When you see a freshman get the opening day start, then a couple of weeks of poor performance and he's on the bench, you can guess that the starts were fulfillment of a deal made to get his signature.

It's damn shameful how some "fans" hate their favorite team's players and coaches so much.

IF LSU sports cause you SO MUCH pain and disgust, please find another team. Maybe one you can actually like, support, and enjoy.

Otherwise, you and your life will continue to be miserable.
