Today is when Mainieri will meet with the players about their futures at LSU. since the majority of the current roster is returning and a giant recruiting class should be coming to campus, several guys are going to get the bad news. Who do y'all think will be told they're better off going somewhere to get PT a la Danny Zardon and Jake Godfrey? Keep in mind LSU needs to move about 13 players. Discuss.

Do you think he'll be on the roster come next spring?

Probably could have really used him this season.

Danny Zardon

He also might have been a big help.

It really is pretty easy. I have my opinions, but I would never post them. Yes. Some will be let go now or in a few weeks. But, this is a process that never ends. As you know, players are let go at the exit interview, a few weeks later, during the fall, at the end of fall, and prior to the first game. Some are let go during the season. But, the paring down to 35 will occur by the first game in 2017. I feel bad for the kids that no longer hold value. A roster spot only means that you have an opportunity to win a spot. It doesn't mean you will play for LSU. And, if you are a veteran, you aren't promised anything. You have to earn your keep.

We are prob playing in the college World Series if Danny Zardon stayed at lsu 345 avg this year with like 15 homers and a 3rd or 2nd baseman.

You're being disengenuous saying we need to move 13 guys. It's. Really closer to six.

You're right, but it's closer to 10. Let's say 31 return and 14 come to campus, that's 10 that need to go depending on transfers affecting the roster limit.

Eta: 10 is still a whole hell of a lot.

But there won't be 31 returning. Poche, Fraley, devall, valek, smith, stallings, that's 29 right there.

He faced slightly inferior pitching

Riley Smith just signed with the Dbacks, so we're down to 33.

Yes that's the current conversation with Jared. Money isn't an issue, he believes he's better than a 14th rounder. I tend to agree. Also, the Reds have gone over their slot by $4 mil already in their first 3 signings. Stallings might not get the money he's looking for.

JUCO still has some pretty decent arms. Also, he hit .318 (not .345), slugged .613, and had an on base of .420.

His average improved from his freshman year to sophomore years at LSU, no reason to think he wouldn't improve or be just as good as his sophomore year (.288) this year.

(He batted .302 in his three year college career counting his time at LSU and Nova Southeastern. Yes, I'm bored.)

Edit: Hell...that wasn't even JUCO, it was NCAA Div. II.

I was surprised when Godfrey left and would've loved having him on the team this year

So Smith and Fraley are signing... any other current players so far?
