My guesses:
Poche stays
Freeman goes
Bugg stays
Stallings goes

so, considering how wrong you were on Robertson and Deichmann, we can expect the opposite of all of this?

Oh for fricks sake. How many times do we have to revisit this. I was wrong in April. I changed my views after the possum thing and seeing how excited they were both to be winning. We literally went over this one week ago. Why are you following me around bringing up old shite. You're pathetic, man. Go find someone else to occupy your time.

ETA: my last comment about the matter last week... And yes the Smith thing was wrong.

Leave: Fraley, Poche, Bugg, Stallings Stay: Robertson, Deichmann, Smith Toss up: Freeman I can't get a read on the Freeman pick

Trust me on the "Poche leaning towards staying" info. Info came from girlfriends family. Would take a "blown away by the offer" to get him to sign and that won't happen. This info was as of Friday.

That would be huge

i agree thats when he seemed to have hit his 1st mental hurdle. Believe he has tools to overcome it. His early season success probably played into this as well. But the question of being cut this fall for a player who the coach's believed in enough to be a season starter all year seemed more instigating than rational. And not related as you may may think.

Oh I hear ya. I'm not one saying they should be cut or anything at all. May the best players always win out. For much of the first half of the season I felt Beau was our best bat.. but he never was the same since that game Breaux came in to replace him. I absolutely am not saying he should be cut. I do believe in benching though when anyone doesn't perform. Regardless who it is. It is never personal. Romero was another hot bat that went extremely cold. Earned his way to starting, then lost his spot.

I am definitely not assuming they are gone, but I am also not penciling them in the starter spots next season. Hopefully we have a loaded lineup next season and the competition makes everyone better.

He was second on our team in OBP and led the team 90% of the season. A team that was a top national seed with no easy out 1-9.

I know you love to bring up his OBP.. but he lead the league in HBP.. but towards his huge struggle.. that didn't seem to be happening. Were teams pitching him away? Did this contribute to his struggle?

If Bryce is struggling and teams are pitching away from him can we really count on his OBP?

Meaning he got on base more than anyone on the team. Does that not register in your head? And he still finished 2nd despite the terrible slump to end the year. Kid has earned a spot until he proves he doesn't belong. He had a damn strong year for a sophomore

I wanted to point out I agree with this though.

quote:

Jordan's OPS trumped Jake Fraley's as a Soph too.

Because he was getting beamed out the arse.. .. not to dismiss that as not being valuable.. only goes back to my concerns of what happens if teams adjust pitching to him. Fraley was still a better prospect and we all knew that.

quote:

He's been getting hit by pitches since high school when he set the national record

They both got hit a lot in HS. They are a large target, but that's high school pitching. They did continue getting hit in college this season, but seems like teams adjusted pitching to them towards the back end.. I wonder if teams will just pitch away on them moving forward.

quote:

Only our dumbass fans would want to bench an all sec 1st team player as a soph. So frick you for being one of those people

I think the transfer talk is silly.. but anyone that struggles that hard eventually needs to be benched.. (and he was that last game I believe?) unless they are contributing defensively. I absolutely value what both brothers brought to the team.

It's strange to me that Beau Jordan is noticeably faster than Bryce. Didn't Bryce have some sort of leg or foot injury before the season? I can't really remember..

quote:

you do realize he was 2nd on the team in SLG and HR in SEC games?

fair enough point.. overall though he had 5 homers and Beau had 4.. Romero who didn't even start a majority of the season had as many as both of them combined. Romero also had more homers in SEC games as well. I only bring up Romero because once Bryce struggles I believe Romero should get his DH ABs.. on power alone. the whole Romero feels he hits better when he catches is strange.. but so is baseball.

The fact is that even though you weren't there to see it, Dawson participated in something called "practice". At these "practices" he got the very ABs that seem to concern you. Apparently he didn't do enough with them to warrant the coaches placing him in actual games.

Right and as I said, Dawson was striking out at an alarming rate. The other freshman may not have been hitting, but Dawson was lost at a whole other type of level.

I'm not here to bash or give up on Dawson, but I definitely can see why he didn't continue to get ABs like the others did. He eventually went on to have 9 strikeouts in 18 ABs. Even Breaux only had 8 strikeouts in 36 ABs..
