McKay has got to get his shite together. He was supposed to be a stud but became a nonfactor very fast

He has 23 HBP while the next highest on the team had 14 (Kramer). If you take away the 9 HBP difference between Bryce and Kramer his OBP drops from .419 to .390 which would be 6th among starters.

So your assuming he will not get on base in those 9 plate appearances you are changing for him???

Seriously though, take out 15 of those HBP and his OBP wasn't shite

Take away 15 of any players on base plate appearances and their OBP isn't going to be shite!! You also assume if Bryce wasn't HBP in those 15 plate appearances he would not get on base by BB, Hit or error???

No, you just assume the AB does not happen

I'm not the Jordan twins biggest fan by any stretch but they will be on this team next year, no question. It would behoove both of them to diversify defensively, especially at C. At worst, they will provide quality depth of the bench and solid PH ability. You want seasoned upperclassmen on your bench and in your line up late in the season.

They will have an uphill battle to get starting spots, Beau will be pushed. Both will have to claw against the freshman next year for PH duty, but they are well ahead in the pecking order over Adams and Forshag (especially if one of them focuses on catching). The real question is a guy like Trey Dawson, who will be pushed by Lochridge and a few of our incoming freshman. He is from WV, and I don't think there are any ties holding him to LSU if he is told that his PT will be limited.

I realize that this guy was 0 for his first 15 or so ABs to start the season, but is anyone else confused as to why he only got a few more ABs the rest of the season? From his bio on lsusports.net

quote:

Posted a .425 batting average, 20 stolen bases and a .557 on-base average in 2015 as a senior at Hurricane HS while committing just one error at shortstop
A four-year starter at shortstop, he played in 126 games, scoring 134 runs and driving in 89; stole 43 bases in 50 attempts
Struck out only 50 times in 488 plate appearances during his high school career

The kid can clearly hit and probably needed some time to adjust to college pitching. Just curious as to why others (Breaux, Wofford, etc) got so many more opportunities than Dawson. Hopefully he sticks around and can turn things around like Kramer did.

I like how people are assuming that because two players in the first season getting really playing time slumped at the end of the year, those two players are no longer and asset to the team and should not make the team next year.

The rant never fails.

I never went that far. I just believe that they will be pushed for their starting jobs next year by more rounded players unless they really step it up. There's no doubt that they'll contribute to this team in '17 and I hope that they prove me wrong and start every game next season

ETA: There is no question that the twins will have spots on the team next year. It's laughable to think otherwise

Problem is LSU could not afford to work McKay and Dawson into meaningful playing time while trying to win games.

I could see both opting for junior college route.

Yeah, but Dawson only had 10 ABs going into SEC play. I figured he would have gotten more ABs in garbage time prior to SEC. He finally got his first 2 hits as a tiger against Grambling on April 13 yet only got 4 more ABs the last 2 months of the season.

No, I'm not at all confused, and I'm surprised that you are. There is a sizeable minority of us who are such radical egomaniacs that they don't think something happened if they, themselves, don't witness it.

The fact is that even though you weren't there to see it, Dawson participated in something called "practice". At these "practices" he got the very ABs that seem to concern you. Apparently he didn't do enough with them to warrant the coaches placing him in actual games.
