I think it could have been a decent discussion. The OOC schedule overall has been better in the past. I don't think it's anything to be upset over, but it's worth discussing why, what could be done, and who we'd like to see at the box.

I'd love to see us play Rice, Texas, UNC, et al, too in a weekend series, but it won't happen with any regularity because all of those teams would require a return series at their place, just as you posted in that other baseball thread. And that would cost too much lost revenue in the years when we went to their place.
And just as you posted, our RPI is fine with the weekend series we do play added to the SEC scheduled games.
It's the midweek games with in-state schools and various SWAC teams who are thrilled to come play in Alex Box Stadium that hurts our RPI.
The opening weekend with UNO (home)/UNO (away)/Grambling (home) this year is a special circumstance caused by UNO re-dedicating their rebuilt baseball stadium and honoring Mainieri's former college coach, Ron Maestri. UNO knows hosting LSU in its first home game in the newly rebuilt stadium will insure a huge crowd, which is what they wanted to honor Maestri. Mainieri wanted to do his part to honor is old college coach.
For those who say LSU is giving away too much, well, maybe so. But it is what it is and it's for one season only.
But then, Virginia Tech comes in for a Friday night game and we host Purdue for a 3 game weekend series.
And I enjoy seeing teams like Yale, which comes in the third weekend of next season, or other Ivy League teams when they come to the Box, such as Princeton, Brown and Dartmouth has over the past three years or so. Those kids are bug eyed playing at the Box.

Someone is mad that baseball has more support then basketball...
I don't see why we can't set up a home and home with Rice or Texas. I think our fans would travel to both, and it would ensure large crowds at the Box.

I'd love for Rice to come but again, the other team's coach has to agree to it. I don't know what the situation is there.
And each three-game weekend series we don't play at home costs the program between $300,000 and $400,000 in lost ticket and concession sales.
We will play some big teams in the Minute Maid Challenge in Houston's Minute Maid Park in the 2015 season. We will see how many LSU fans travel for that series.

I really don't know. It's hard to keep up with who is pissed off on any given day and in any given thread. Some people take this anonymous message board so personally.
I'm pretty sure LSU=Champions is pissed at me. At least he was last night. He pretty much takes anything I post as some type of personal challenge to his manhood.
