I need the SF kicker held to one point. I'm going to lose because the Patriot defense scored two defensive td's in the last two minutes after the Ravens gave up and put in Tyrod Taylor. My opponent had the NE defense.
No lie, I was 14-0 on the season going into yesterday.

Days to First Pitch: 53
How many days until we can start discussing Hawthorne's ineptitude?

I don't know who's more difficult to listen to, Hawthorne doing baseball or "Hokie" as the color guy for the Saints.

Number of posts discussing Hawthorne's ineptitude before the first "You've just never heard any other baseball announcers, Jim is great!", "You hate him because he doesn't have the same accent as you", "You can't expect the announcer to know how to pronounce names", "Why does it matter if he doesn't describe what is actually happening on the field? All you need to know is who wins" type responses: 2

I have a confession to make:
I like Hawthorne. I think his mistakes made during the play by play are understandable, because he is calling the play as it happens, and he doesn't have the luxury of a retake of he makes a mistake. How many of us have seen a ball leave the bat and jumped up to say, "it's gone!" Only to watch or fall into the left fielders glove 20 feet shy of the fence? I have no problem wit those mistakes, and a less than descriptive call, because the color guy is there to explain what happened after the fact.
His comments in between pitches in baseball surprise me at times, but overall I like listening to him for the games. I like the excitement and anticipation of a long fly ball and whether or not it will leave the park.
I just like to egg it on to the Rant because I know someone will be here to post about every slip-up.

I don't know, I don't run the team..
Hokie, Do you think the Saints will..

Hokie, who should the saints start at..
I don't know you'd have to ask the coach.

It's not the mistakes that bother me. Every announcer has those and his aren't any more frequent than others. But those are the most fun to pick on him about.
I get annoyed when I'm listening and it's during the most crucial part of the game when he decides he's going to stop making the call and just complain or cheer. When it's 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and runners at 2nd and 3rd, the last thing I want to hear is "Oh, Wow!" or "Well, I just can't believe it!" and then radio silence. Then there's his lack of knowledge of the game. Charlie is constantly having to correct him, and most of the time when he does, Hawthorne just interrupts him or starts to argue.

I won't argue, there are some frustrating times when listening to the broadcast, but I just like to post on here about the mistakes for entertainment.

All of this. Hawthorne was a big part of my childhood and will always be part of LSU lore, but I straight up can't bear listening to him call baseball games. To the point I'd almost rather not listen if it's my only option.

"The payoff pitch from Nola" ...silence... "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" ...silence...silence...

Maybe I wasn't paying attention like I do now, but I don't remember him like this when I was in high school.

I didn't notice how terrible he is until the Geauxzone broadcasts came along. When you actually see the game he is calling you realize how off a lot of his descriptions are.
And like everyone else said when he tries to "talk baseball" it's even worse because he really has no clue.
