People with babies that sleep have it lucky. My oldest almost never slept through the night. He was always waking up and crying for about 2 solid years. He never took naps either (well, I guess when he was Ell's boy's age, he took naps).
I guess some traits start very early, because even though he's now in junior high, he never sleeps late. He's always the first one up on the non-school days. He just never sleeps.

So far, he's been on a relatively consistent schedule (besides days where we take him out of the house). I don't know what it was about last night, but he decided to sleep for 7 hours instead of his usual 4. It was glorious.
