LSU assistant coach could become head coach for Southern football

Southern University now has an open head coaching position available, and LSU’s wide receivers coach and assistant coach Mickey Joseph is “high on the list of candidates”.
As a New Orleans native, Joseph joined the LSU coaching staff at the start of the 2017 season as a wide receivers coach, and he was named assistant head coach in 2020.
He also is considered a Louisiana high school football legend after gaining 20 years of coaching experience and playing quarterback at Nebraska and has been a factor in LSU’s success in past seasons.

Southern won't come close to paying him what he makes now. And that's a terrible head coaching job with little chance for career advancement as a head coach.

Dude - I have no ill will towards Southern. But that is not exactly a coaching career launch pad. That program is not in great shape and they have very poor funding.
Objectively, he'd have a better chance at real career progression if he took a higher title at another P5 then got a gig as head coach of a school like Tulane.
What Southern head coaches went on to millions of dollars and football glory?

And Odums is a pretty damn good coach I think. He bailed for another HBCU.

and $310k is his base. The total value of his contract is $385k. That figure is 114% more than Odums was making at Southern.
Maybe Joseph wants the challenge and maybe SU can come off a little more cash to make the pay cut not sting so much.
Of note, Joseph's LSU contract expires at the end of the 2021 season so a new contract would likely make the gap in pay even larger.

I couldn't care less about how you feel about Southern or anything else for that matter. Your feelings nor opinions matters to any of it in the big scheme of things. It's just one of a long list of ignorant comments that come from interest CEO's, GM's, and self made sports experts. That speak as if they know what any of these individuals want out of their careers. If people like you knew half of what they thought they knew. They'd all be on ESPN or some other major media source making all those millions that they just assume is the primary goal of everyone else. But instead they're here giving their expert opinions and analysis on "Tiger Rant" . I couldn't think of a more fitting place to offer their valuable services.
