Football fanbase is off and on. Granted we've won our past few bowl games so our future is looking a little bit up as well as being in the ACC now. Syracuse football does not travel nearly as well as LSU. Not really sure how many people will make the 20 hr drive or fly, but I'll try and convince as many people I know to come on down though

I'd imagine our game day environment would be a pretty big culture shock.

Well, that sucks. There's a 99% chance that I'd go to watch LSU play in MetLife. There's a 1% chance I'd travel to Syracuse for a weekend.

I thought this thread was going to be about basketball and I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the title.

Then I opened the thread and was extremely disappointed.

Syracuse is better than an FCS team or a weak instate opponent like ULL or Tulane that would be a given blow out

I agree with you there, but it's not a team that is worthy of a home and home with LSU.

Oregon and Wisconsin should have been home and home for examples. Anyone with a household name or anyone that has been fielding good teams lately.

Syracuse, N.Y. — A major addition to the Syracuse football schedule may be coming: The school is working with LSU on an upcoming home-and-home series, according to Joe Giansante, the SU athletic department's chief of communications.

No agreement has been finalized, nor has any dates for the series. Giansante did say one of the games would be played at the Carrier Dome and not at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Giansante added the discussions were for scheduling a series this decade.

"Those are the kinds of games we want to play to raise the profile of our brand," Giansante said. "We want to make sure people understand we're going for it. We want to have an elite level football program."

CBSSports.com first reported the agreement being worked on was for a home-and-home series that would start in Death Valley in 2015.

Syracuse previously announced nonconference matchups with Maryland and Central Michigan. The series with Central Michigan is a two-for-one, with Syracuse traveling to CMU on Sept. 13 and the Chippewas playing at Syracuse in 2015 and 2017. Maryland visits the Carrier Dome on Sept. 20, and SU will travel to College Park in 2019.

Syracuse also will face Notre Dame at MetLife Stadium in 2014 and 2016, and finishes off a previously announced agreement with Penn State in 2020-21.

It would be the first time Syracuse faced an SEC opponent since beating Missouri 31-27 in 2012.

The last time Syracuse faced LSU was in the 1989 Hall of Fame Bowl in Tampa, Fla. Syracuse won, 23-10, and finished the year just outside the top 10 in the polls.

Some of the usual suspects seem to be under the delusion that a lot of major football powers (however defined)are dying to play a night game against LSU in TS

Yep, in the era of rent a wins, it's not easy to get a quality home and home anymore. SU may be a decent team in 2015, it sure beats playing North Texas or Furman.

The Saints play at Buffalo in 2017. That means there is a 1 in 16 chance this could be an awesome weekend.

Syracuse has nice history and I think people will have a great trip there. New York is actually a beautiful state from what I've been told and the pictures I've seen. I've been to Pennsylvania several times but never made it over to New York. Finally doing so this summer.

It really does. Syracuse has had some very talented and renowned players in their history. Maybe it means a bit more to us older guys who remember the program for what it once was.

For some reason, it's weird for me to imagine LSU playing in the Carrier Dome.

Going on the road to play in a 49,000 seat indoor environment.
For any LSU fans that might want to make that epic journey, Niagra Falls is 166 miles west of Syracuse.

Way to go Joe. Makin LSU fans drive/fly all the way to Green Bay Wisconsin and Syracuse New York.

Or we could have just kept Arizona State on the schedule.

I must have missed it, but when did AZ St games get cancelled out? They are still listed on LSUSports.net for 2015 and 2016.

The drive from BR to Syracuse takes you through the outskirts of Cleveland, Erie, and Buffalo before heading east on 90. The falls are a little north of B'lo but definitely worth taking a detour if you haven't seen them. I'm hoping Cuse has a better team by the time these games happen.
