There were a lot of people posting that there was a done deal and that LSU was “citing morals clause”. Those people were wrong.
Yep, I was one of those. I have a friend that's always been pretty accurate with info. He has some connections but even he's told me he's gonna have to backtrack. So imma step up and take the L on this one.

If Kelly sues LSU, then LSU should file a third party demand against Scott Woodward.

frick CBK. But, he’s not being an arse. He is owed the full agreed upon amount written down in the contract he and LSU signed.

The only question now is whether LSU pays $53Mil over 6 (or is it 5) years, or if LSU pays him some lesser amount right now.

It’s a time value of money problem. That’s it. Know what I mean. $53 mil 5 years from now is worth some amount less than that right now today.

He’s not being an arse.

How is he being an arse by wanting what he is owed pursuant to a contract?

attorneys representing Kelly said that the former head coach wants LSU to confirm in writing by 5 p.m. on Nov. 10 that the school will "fulfill its contractual obligation" to pay Kelly the "full liquidated damages."

To which if I’m LSU, I say “or else what?” LSU is already paying him his monthly installment payment. LSU doesn’t have to confirm shite to him in writing. This is a negotiation tactic by Kelly’s attorneys. They are looking for a settlement, and they are going to get one.

Like how did that work in Woodward's mind? "I'm going to fire you and hope you somehow say I get to pay you 20 million less than the contract says"

No he thinks LSU is going to pay him 25% up front followed by installments.

Like most coaches. It’s crazy how dense some of this board is. LSU negotiated this contract. LSU signed this contract. He is fully in the right to expect this money. You are a moron to think otherwise.

No that is not right. The options are 90% of his salary paid out over the term of the contract less any money he makes through other employment, or a lump sum payment of a lesser amount now. Those are really the only two options at this time.

Pay the man in accordance with his contract. The head coach in waiting is watching to see how the administration of this top 5 job operates. It is akin to an insurance company who threatens either to not pay or pay you a reduced amount on your valid claim.

It will settle before the end of the year for around $37 million. Watch what happens.

LSU has no leverage unless they have dirt on Kelly that could hurt his chances of getting another job. Problem qith that is, the dirt would likely be mutually harmful. He should tell LSU to pound sand frankly.

Take the Net Present Value (or something close to it) and you'd avoid the "penalty" of the salary impact of your next coaching job.

Wonder if the liars here talking about firing for cause for bullshite reasons (“drunk” extramarital affair) had any effect on this? I sure wouldn’t want to let that go down in history on me if it was bullshite. If it’s true frick him though.

Even with my 4th grade reading level I can tell that the BK buyout money would be better spent on iTunes gift cards for Sanjay in Delhi
