Awe what’s wrong your argument fell apart so you have to go the personal insult route? Poor baby I’m sorry you’re wrong, you could have just said you didn’t like him instead of spewing inaccurate statements in hopes that it would make you sound more intelligent. Here’s a clue, they don’t they make you look stupid.

What’s crazy is we’ve had a lot of guys leave early but they don’t receive the hate Simmons does. Stanley Roberts played one season at LSU and is universally loved by our fans. CJ was here for 2 seasons during an era when even great players were staying in college for 4 years and he’s loved. More recently you had the M&M boys and Blakeney that were here for 2 seasons and weren’t even in the same universe as Simmons talent wise, they’re all loved. But for whatever reason Simmons is hated by a lot of fans. You can say his team underachieved but how many titles did Pistol Pete win? How many NCAA tourneys did his teams get to? If any coach other than Johnny Jones were here for Simmons we’dve been in the tourney and almost all this hate would’ve never happened. So as usual stupid Rant fan uses misplaced blame to hate on a kid who had one of the greatest freshman seasons ever at LSU and continues to help LSUs profile and future recruiting.

The ONLY measurable argument I even care about is the NCAAT.

Did we make that with hot shite here? No.

So you also don't like Pete Maravich. He never made the tournament and he didn't graduate.

Ben Simmons hurt the program. Wish he was never a tiger. We got worse from him being here and just now starting to turn it around.

Just now starting to turn it around. One year later. He clearly did so much damage that it took a whole year for things to turn around.

An alum is a graduate or a student. He never went to class and I doubt he passed any classes.

shaq didn't graduate on time either, but we love him. "Graduation" isn't the standard for love and affection of former LSU players.

Pete was here for 4 years. And only 25 teams made the NCAA tournament back then.

And I doubt Pete had the other talent on the roster that Simmons did. Quarterman made an NBA roster. josh Gray just got a 10 day contract. Hornsby was a very solid player. Others too.

For an overall no. 1 draft pick to not even be able to lead that roster to an NCAA tourney bid is disgraceful.

This thread is full of people scoffing at the idea of Simmons being an alum because he didn’t graduate. He enrolled as a studen at LSU, he’s an alum. To hold “graduation” against him, as the poster I was replying to did, means it has to be held against Maravich as well.

Again, the post I was responding to said the only results he cared about was tourney appearances. Context is your friend.

Maravich is the GOAT college basketball player and was #3 overall in the draft. No tourney bid.

How is anything I’m saying false?

These were HIS words. Not mine. Are you just too fricking much of an idiot to understand what a fricking university reputation is? You think this bum is more important than the entire basketball program?

Student would include at some point going to class, which he said that he never did.
The 21-year-old said he doesn’t believe there’s any point in having athletes as talented as himself spend a year in college.

“I think no. I think I would’ve learned a lot more being around professional athletes. Looking back at it now, I don’t even really know what I learned financially or just being a person at LSU. I think I’ve learned a lot more this whole year, being in Philly and being a pro than I did in LSU.”

Simmons continued:

“It’s a dirty business. You have to put up with it, but at the same time, it just taught me a lot. I have an image and people wanted to use that, but now I have the opportunity to control that and what I do and who I work with. It helped me. At the same time, I feel like it was really sneaky, kind of.”

Wasn’t allowed to even play on the varsity team his freshman year because of NCAA rules. I was in school during part of his time there and partied with him a couple times.
Weird guy, but could party.

The rules are the rules. If you don’t like them, don’t play here. He CHOSE to play at LSU. He CHOSE to play by the “dirty” business rules. He could have played in Australia or Europe for 1 season as a professional, BUT DID NOT.
So STFU SIMMONS

Nowhere in your post is a quote of Simmons saying he never went to class.
