You don't get the benefit of the doubt when your defense was ranked 58th (total defense) last year and the average ranking over the 4 years prior to that was 87th.
LSU used to get the benefit of the doubt it would have a great defense year in and year out. That's not the case any longer. They have to prove it before anyone will believe it.

Pre 2020 I’d say you are just looking for attention with that comment but after the past openers i can’t say your comment is out of the realm of possibility. I’m not buying the hype until I see it this time

I do not understand the hype of Texas. Only thing they have proven is they can't win in big games.

I just dont see it. they're the only other team thats talented and still looks like shite in week 1. their d sucked last year and their offense has no chance to be better than ours.
the camp reports are raving about our defense. never worried about offense with our speed ..we have a bench full of guys that are faster than other teams starters.
we got the size too. we've been practicing with the realistic expectation that we probably won't be able to just run the ball on teams with the zone read or just basic up the middle runs.
also, the last few years we've worked on us until the last week of camp when we start our game week prep.
this year we're doing game prep for two weeks.
everybody is so scared of clemson or week one because they feel we have a flaw in coaching or gameplanning for week one.
I dont think thats the case,we just didnt keep our foot on their necks with a first year starter. that won't happen again
