Edwards wasn't going 6 innings. Jay obviously believes another game of this series is going to be played. With Skenes only going 3 innings someone besides Herring Edwards and Floyd were going to have to get outs this weekend. We were up to bat with a man on and had Edwards and Dutton warming. When we didn't score Jay probably decided to see if he could get 2 scoreless innings out of the lesser guys. It didn't work. I probably would've gone Guidry but I get why he didn't want to use Edwards or Herring there

Jay always says “every game is game 7 is our approach” - which is clearly lip service if you watch how he manages certain situations that can only be explained by having a long term view. And that’s ok, it’s just a weird obsession he has with making everyone think he’s big on staying in the present only.
