Plus there are pinch hitters who need ABs too once Hughes comes up in the order. Just like last night. (Sucks to be Hughes, but do what you can for the team at this point.)

If you have a poor eye you aren’t going to be a good hitter. If you are not a good hitter, you need to be sure you can bunt when necessary.
It’s a sacrifice bunt, you give up your AB to help the team. Unselfish kids do it better.
