In the 1989 NLCS the Chicago Cubs had a mound meeting and Will Clark read the lips of the conversation and knew the pitch and location. He hit a game winning home run.
Ever since pitchers and coaches have covered their mouths on the mound.

Cannot take that pitch for strike 2 piped over the plate. Totally unclutch team. And he actually didn’t come close to going around too.
