Based on CPM's interview on 1/5 with Kendall Rogers, these are where he seems to have placed his starters and the positions.

Unless I missed something, has there been anything in the past two weeks to change this?

FRI: Jaden Hill
SAT: Landon Marceaux
SUN: AJ Labas

Dylan Crews, RF
Gio DiGiacomo, CF
Cade Beloso, LF
Tre Morgan, 1B
Cade Doughty, 2B
Collier Cranford, SS
Zach Arnold, 3B
Alex Milazzo, C
Gavin Dugas, DH

can't win as in a national title or being good? With there having been only 5 rounds in the MLB draft last year, the SEC is absolutely stacked this year. It is going to have probably the best quality of baseball talent we've ever seen. There are at least 7-8 teams who are capable of making it to Omaha.

That’s from the fall. It was D1Baseballs fall report republished on ncaa.com. The interview took place before we had our P&G World Series.

This could be the best LSU team and still not win it because a lot of other teams are also loaded due to the shortened MLB draft and the rosters being able to expand and not lose any of last years seniors. The quality of baseball at the top should be fantastic

While i get the point, and agree...he really needs to have us as a regional host at a minimum to warrant keeping his job IMO

I thought Safford had played his way into the starting lineup.

The NCAA will not allow that to happen even if they are the best teams in the country. They will put all the SEC schools playing each other in the supers to knock each other out

I have no knowledge or anything to support it, but I just have a feeling Mainieri is going to retire in the next couple of years regardless. I also don't see any situation where we fire him, especially with what's gone on in the rest of the department. Baseball, despite our lofty expectations at LSU, has been the most consistently good program we've had and hasn't had any scandals or other newsworthy negative attention whatsoever.

I'm not saying it's remotely possible, just that there are that many programs that have the players to get there if things fall their way.

I do tend to think he will retire soon, but he really needs to have us near the top of the league this year

I think I’m most excited to watch jaden hill and milazzo.

His defense last year was fricking incredible

I can't imagine a scenario in which Dugas is the DH and Beloso is in left field. That has to be reversed.

Other than that, I'm not too concerned with whoever Mainieri names as his opening day starters. It will be, as it always is, a very fluid lineup for the first few weeks, at the very least.

Lot's of talent there, but much of it is unproven. For that reason, it's hard for me to put any specific expectation on how far I think this team should go. I do expect them to host a regional, based on our pitching, alone. If the bats come close to living up to their potential, it could be a special team. But, who knows how that will go. I just want LSU to make it through a season without losing half of the pitching staff due to injury.

PM said in the fall that with Morgan's emergence at first base that Beloso was being moved to left field. I guess it's possible that Beloso could serve as the DH in case the defensive experiment doesn't go well.

Lots of talent in that lineup. Hopefully Hampton can take one of those OF spots though

He did. Arnold is the starter at SS, Safford at 3B. The interview referenced is outdated.
