I'm enjoying the hell out of this season, but c'mon!! How are we this low?? Behind Louisville?? Seriously?
LINK
IMO, Michigan State, Kansas, Purdue, Louisville, and possibly UNC should now be ranked behind our Tigers. I think 10 or 11 is FAIR.

1. Duke Blue Devils (22-2)
Previous ranking: 2
This week: Beat Louisville 71-69 on Tuesday, vs. NC State (Saturday)

2. Tennessee Volunteers (22-1)
Previous ranking: 1
This week: vs. South Carolina (Wednesday), at Kentucky (Saturday)

3. Virginia Cavaliers (21-2)
Previous ranking: 3
This week: Beat North Carolina 69-61 on Monday, vs. Notre Dame (Saturday)

4. Gonzaga Bulldogs (23-2)
Previous ranking: 4
This week: at Loyola Marymount (Thursday), at San Diego (Saturday)

5. Michigan Wolverines (22-3)
Previous ranking: 5
This week: Lost to Penn State 75-69 on Tuesday, vs. Maryland (Saturday)

6. Kentucky Wildcats (20-4)
Previous ranking: 6
This week: Lost to LSU 73-71 on Tuesday, vs. Tennessee (Saturday)

7. Houston Cougars (23-1)
Previous ranking: 8
This week: at UConn (Thursday), at Tulane (Sunday)

8. North Carolina Tar Heels (19-5)
Previous ranking: 7
This week: Lost to Virginia 69-61 on Monday, at Wake Forest (Saturday)

9. Michigan State Spartans (20-5)
Previous ranking: 10
This week: Beat Wisconsin 67-59 on Tuesday, vs. Ohio State (Sunday)

10. Nevada Wolf Pack (23-1)
Previous ranking: 9
This week: at Wyoming (Saturday)

11. Kansas Jayhawks (19-6)
Previous ranking: 11
This week: Beat TCU 82-77 in OT on Monday, vs. West Virginia (Saturday)

12. Marquette Golden Eagles (21-4)
Previous ranking: 12
This week: Beat DePaul 92-73 on Tuesday

13. Purdue Boilermakers (17-7)
Previous ranking: 14
This week: Lost to Maryland 70-56 on Tuesday, vs. Penn State (Saturday)

14. Louisville Cardinals (17-8)
Previous ranking: 13
This week: Lost to Duke 71-69 on Tuesday, vs. Clemson (Saturday)

15. LSU Tigers (20-4)
Previous ranking: Unranked
This week: Beat Kentucky 73-71 on Tuesday, at Georgia (Saturday)

LSU just missed moving into the rankings after beating Auburn on Saturday, and the Tigers earn a spot after winning at Kentucky on Tuesday on Kavell Bigby-Williams' tip-in at the buzzer. They didn't have a great nonconference profile, with their best win coming on a neutral site against Saint Mary's. But they're 6-1 in road games and now have a true marquee win on their ledger.

16. Iowa State Cyclones (18-6)
Previous ranking: 15
This week: at Kansas State (Saturday)

agreed. But thankfully it doesn't really matter. It is hillarious that they weren't even in the top 25 before last night. That simply means they weren't paying attention. But again, who cares about these kind of rankings. what will matter most is what the Tourney committee thinks in the end and hopefully we get more respcet that we normally do in that regard. I fully expect that we'll get a seed or two lower than we think we deserve - happens every time we go to the big dance. Every. Time.

It’s just going to take a while to get people to perceive LSU basketball as “back” again. They will, though. Contrary to what some believe, LSU has a brand in basketball. It’s just been dormant for a while.

yet another reason why associate press voters mean nothing anymore. The voting process is a sham and always has been.

I guess losing a 23 point lead in the second half is way more impressive than winning on the road at Rupp.

ESPN has not respected the SEC for a long time. The computer rankings do not adjust for a freshman team to get significantly better over the course of a season. Even on this board there is/was skepticism because we did not have any top ten wins.

The SEC is better than the Big Ten and Big twelve. Possibly better than the ACC. I do not see Virginia beating LSU Kentucky or Tennessee.

Anyway I guess if we beat Tennessee they will move us from 15th to 14th and say the same thing

Dropping Tennessee below Duke too. While it was an exciting comeback it was more about Louisville choking than anything Duke did.

This is no longer a relevant statement. The secret is out. Rank us accordingly.

Hype helps with seeding.

Win against georgia and we likely move to 12ish in the AP poll which given where we were trending with the voters after the arkansas game will still be phenomenal.

Past history will indicate it will be hard for us to get a higher seed than 5 unless we run the table, win the sec title or tourney. We are the Rodney Dangerfield of basketball

The people voting in the power rankings are people like Jay Williams who are literally sick at Kentucky losing to lowly LSU

These next 2 games are huge IMO for our seeding as we work to maintain the momentum from the kentucky game. The Tennessee game will obviously be big but win the next 2 and we are playing with house money during that game. A 4 seed is well in our reach if we just win the games we are supposed to through the rest of our schedule. Add a win against Tennessee and we are looking at a potential 3 or even 2 seed.

when do the NET rankings get updated each day with prior day's results?

I haven't figured out their method, but I think new ones should be out tomorrow including games through tonight.

I agree but remember, what ESPN power rankings say means absolutely nothing. We just need to keep winning and who knows, we might find our self in a position to win the frickin' conference! If that happens we'll have a great seed and be in a position to make a run. Even if we don't quite meet that mark and Tennessee wins the SEC, we'll still be in a position to make some noise. We've done pretty dang well away from home and in close games so we might have a good tourney team!
