ERA - 3.70 (6th) / 4.35 (24th)
Field % - .982 (9th) / .969 (143rd)
OBP - .412 (37th) / .396 (91st)
This SHOULD make for an easy series. But, what should happen and what does happen are obviously two very different things.

Looks like not swinging for the fences every at-bat by every player would be a solid strategy here.

LSU usually crushes these kind of teams in supers. It’s the unknown talented mid majors that get them.
teams we have lost to in the super regionals:
1999 #5 overall seed Alabama
2001 #5 overall seed Tulane
2002 #4 overall seed Rice
2012 Stoney Brook
2016 Coastal Carolina
2019 Florida St
2021 #3 overall seed Tennessee
We've beaten:
2000 UCLA
2008 UC Irvine
2009 Rice
2013 Oklahoma
2015 ULL
2017 Miss State
2023 Kentucky
Of the 7 super regional series we've lost, 4 have been against top 8 seeds and another was against Florida State. We've also beaten mid majors UC Irvine, Rice, and ULL in super regionals. Basically, your theory applies to 2 of the 14 super regionals we've ever played in. And the most recent occurrence was almost 10 years ago. Time to move on

Is he though? That 9th inning bomb was on a 2-0 meatball that was a get me over after 6 straight balls

he's been missing meatballs lately. It's encouraging to see him find a barrel on any pitch, I don't care the situation. He probably feels the same. Sometimes that's what it takes to get your confidence back

He's been swinging at too much shite out of the zone. Chasing more than he's been missing balls right down the middle

All these stats for WV are slanted. They play in an extremely weak conference with subpar competition
What are you talking about

Big 12 is easily the 3rd best conference in baseball. They got 8 teams into regionals, and won 2 of them

Lsu will win the series 2-0.
On to Omaha

The Big 12 is not good at baseball. WV strength of schedule is 93 dickhead
You are about to find out how weak this weekend.

While that may be true, There is an absolute enormous gap between the 2nd and 3rd best conference.
I am amused by you Big 12 apologists.

Looks like 2 evenly matched teams. It should be a great series.
I still think we can go 2-0 and the boys can take Sunday off.

Only 15 during the regular season and conf. tournament. In those 15 they were 8-7.
And only 1-6 against 1 or 2 seeds before the win over Clemson.

It’s about pitching first and foremost.
2, any pitcher at this level can get hot and shut offenses down
3, any batter can get hot and raise the level of the rest of the offense.
Keeping our opponent from getting either or both of 2/3 accomplished is how we win.

They are only 0.013 behind us. Percentage wise 1.3%. Is that really a huge difference? I know the ranking is huge, but in terms of actual performance is it?

He’s been taking a lot of the pitches that end of right down the middle. It was good to see him pick it up and put a good swing on it.

The ACC is top heavy, but they have 2 actual contenders. The Big 12 really doesn’t.

You have to make good contact and put the ball in play and quit popping everything up and take advantage of this.
