Good insight butt.

I do believe we will see a three pg lineup often this season, which is wild. All three of those guys are dangerous playmakers.

I know are offense will be top notch, guys like Tremont and Naz will keep it flowing and we should have great ball rotation.

This team has some great players, and I think we have the best pg in the country, preseason 3rd team all American, in waters.

All in all, I'm pretty amped.

There are soooo many guys on this team that people are going to love. Mays is the leader. Tremont Waters is Tremont fricking Waters but with help this year. Smart is the hometown hero that choose to represent his city and state when he could have gone anywhere. Reid is an elite skilled big man. Williams is just a nasty player that plays with no mercy. Taylor is going to be the human highlight reel with his explosiveness and dunking ability. Days is another forward that can do it all. Bigby-Willliams is the shot blocker that we desperately needed last year. Edwards is going to be the defensive lock down specialist a la Garrett Temple.

How will we lose a single game? It's essentially an all star team.
Could be the best starting five in LSU history, and one of the best the SEC has ever boasted.

What's the point? We have a very good team preseason, and there is a ton to be hopeful for. Coming off of that shitshow Saturday, why can't you just let people enjoy the hope that is there?

I've been optimistic to a fault regarding LSU basketball since 1999. I love getting my hopes up.
I truly believe it's the best line up we've ever had. Is there any reason not to believe that?
Of course we will lose games, but I'm just wondering how we could with those players. Not sarcasm.

Yes there are multiple reasons not to believe that. Starting with past LSU teams that had actual previous success coming into the year greater than the NIT second round. No one is trying to put you down, just temper the expectations for people that do not follow LSU basketball. You are saying this lineup is better already than CJ, Shaq, and Roberts. Or even Davis, Mitchell, Thomas, and Temple.

Smart, Wiliams, Reid, Days, Bigby-Williams and Taylor have not played yet for LSU yet no way you can say that.

Are you serious? Its basketball, look at the talent at other teams on our schedule. Its not like the guys on our team are head and shoulders more talented than everyone else.

From a talent standpoint this could absolutely be the best lineup LSU has ever had. Of course they have to prove it on the court, but that always goes without saying. There is zero reason to doubt that this COULD be LSU's best team. "Could" is not a declaration of fact.

It isn't as if there have been a ton of top recruiting classes in LSU history, to go along with a couple of very good returning players; one of which is one of the best players in the nation.

It will be interesting and exciting to see how the results match the potential.

It’s not just the talent that has me so excited. We have had talented teams before (although maybe not this deep). The thing that has me amped is for the first time in my lifetime we have a quality coach at the helm. Although Brown was a great recruiter, he was not a good coach. Brady was a great defensive coach but his offenses were pickup basketball. Trent and Johnny were just jokes.

Can’t wait to get into the PMAC tonight and watch Wade and the boys.

There's no reason not to be excited about this season. How are opposing teams going to defend LSU?? There's literally nothing they'll be able to do except try to limit them.. good luck with that. That being said, I think the ceiling this year would be a 4 seed and the floor would be a return to the NIT. I'm preparing myself for anything in between

I really believe we will spread the ball around A LOT. I think Tremont's scoring may take a small step backwards, but his assists may skyrocket. I predict Tremont is a 2nd team All-SEC.

I think you're underselling Waters. He's on just about every preseason All American list (2nd or 3rd team) and a legitimate SEC POY candidate. His scoring numbers will likely go down a bit, but there is not a better pure PG in the SEC. I don't know if people realize just how special he is. He can absolutely control a game from the PG spot. If LSU has a big year it's because he conducted the orchestra brilliantly. Think Tyler Ulis (but with more offensive ability)

quote:

I also think Naz will be a 1st teamer All-SEC, and Freshman All-American, and 3rd team All-American. I really think Naz could be in for a 16ppg, 7rpg, 3.5apg type of year while being double teamed often. His impact will be even greater than his stats.

I think you're probably overselling Reid a little bit. Great skill set. Great talent. Great potential. But I think the college game is going to be quite a step up for him. That's not to say he won't be on the SEC all freshman team (I think he will) or a top 20 pick (I think he will). I just see slightly lower numbers: 13 ppg; 6 rpg; 3 apg with some bad turnovers.

He's LSU's best NBA prospect, but it's going to take a little time for him to get acclimated to the college game.

Anything less than a NCAAT trip would be a huge disappointment. This group is MORE than good enough to at least reach the tournament.

LSU generally had no issue scoring the ball last season. Defense (and to a lesser extent) rebounding were the problems. I think just by the sheer talent/size infusion LSU should be able to rebound just fine. The only concern is will the young players buy in on the defensive side. If so, this team could be a top 40 defensive efficiency team (to go along with a top 20 offensive efficiency team).

If LSU defends, this is going to be a VERY tough team to beat night in and night out.

You said this, but then said...

Which I said. I expect a 14 and 6/7 type of season. He doesn't have to shoot as much and we don't need him as badly.

I don't think I can disagree more. He's one of the most skilled forwards to come out in a long time, and he's developed a shot from NBA range. He doesn't have that freakish length or athletic jumping ability, but that dude is SMOOTH with the ball in his hands. Wade already said that he is the guy they will go through because either a) He isn't double teamed and LSU wins or b) he's doubled and he's such a tremendous passer it becomes 4v3 for LSU.

Reid was underrated coming out of HS because they put some of those 6'9 dunkers out there. Zion Williamson is a guy who will need to get acclimated to college because he played 2A basketball in South Carolina and is a physical freak, but is a crazy dunker. Reid can beat you off the dribble, from outside, in the post. I just think he's too skilled to only get 13
