He tied for the lead on 1 and then they didn’t show his drive or the trouble he had on 2 until much later in the Day. But CBS would show the Chinese guy and others 10 back. Also his name was always listed after Rose, Lowry, etc when they were tied. I thought the coverage sucked this weekend.

Burn’s next step is being that guy. He has to believe it. It’s obvious given his talent and skills he’s one of the best golfers on the planet. But every time he gets a lead he succumbs to the pressure. Came out birdie the first hole. Tied for lead. Royally fricks up next two holes. Now he’s out of it. Presumes to play good golf the rest of way like he had all week. Proud of him though for fighting through it

Even just two years ago, that double bogey followed by a bogey would have seen him tumble down the leader board like Lowry did.

Instead, he parred the rest of the front nine and steadied himself.

Burying the long birdie putt showed his mental resilience is getting better, in my opinion.

Seems like it’s just a matter of time now. I think getting totally hosed by the ref at US Open actually benefited him

Thanks.....maybe I'm thinking of Cam Young who was par on back 9. I wanted Burns, Young, or Scheffler to pull it out. Anybody but Rory.

He's a bit of a choke artist on Sundays.

Great talent. Can't seem to win tournaments.

Said "choke artist", memory working, earned approximately $750,000. A lot of players in the field didn't come close to that kind of payday.

Your seven downvoters are the same ones trashing our baseball coach that has won two of the last three NATIONAL championships.

Someone mentioned he missed a short putt towards the end that would have had him finish T3. Great showing overall.

He also tried to make the green in 2 on 15 (a par 5) that, had he made it, would have set him up to potentially be tied with Scottie at the end or better.

But he was about 6 inches short and instead of it rolling onto the green it rolled into the water.

I like that his mentality isn’t “let me just go for an easier shot so I can maybe make a birdie,” but is instead, “I want to win this and to do so I have to eagle this hole and if I don’t make it I’ll scramble for par.”

The bogey on 17 wasn’t great, though.

If the MSB has taught me anything it's that every golfer, except the winner, is a choking bitch

Sam has 5 wins and two Ryder Cups under his belt. He's 29. His time is coming.

Heck, the thread on here yesterday had a numbnuts (Tiger In NY) who kept calling Rory a choking bitch.

He’s had his moments. And he’s missed on some difference making moments w bad play. Based on his being the best amateur in the world upon entering tour you could make an argument he’s underachieved. The game is so mentally challenging at the top level it separates the greats from the goods. Hes got the physical tools to win a major and more events. Hopefully he accomplishes that . Great week anyway you slice it.

The most impressive thing for Burns, and what will give him big confidence going forward, is that he didn't fall apart in final round while starting the day one shot back. He shot 73 on a pretty tough day on the course. The Masters often chews people up on Sunday. Look at Shane Lowry of Ireland who started the day two back and shot 8 over 80! Easily could have been Sam but he stayed tough. As someone who hasn't done well in majors, this will help him big time in the next ones. Feel like he'll win one or two when it's all said and done.

I thought it was just me but I’m glad someone else noticed.

I figured we’d get a couple shots on the back end but I don’t even think we got to see him finish the round.

Was kinda ridiculous particularly because he got himself back in decent position on the back 9

Sam is fairly consistent - he has played very well in the majors - his day is coming to wear the green jacket - the guy can putt lights out - handles himself like a professional and he is very good ambassador for LSU

They never show Sam unless he’s paired with Rory or Scottie or he’s in the lead.

He doesn’t play ball with them or something. I don’t get it.

Saturday he played in the final group and they still missed a few of his shots. I guess maybe he plays too fast for them...hell J. Rose would get more airtime taking one shot than Burns with 5 shots.
