The fans are the ones that have tons of power in my opinion. If people would just stop attending games until they put some much needed changes/rules in place, the ncaa/courts would hop on it real quick.
Agree, but no signs of that happening. Record attendance, TV revenues and ratings this season.

Players are pissed at the treatment of their coach and leave as well. The rant.... COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS DEAD!!!
I don't know about that it seems that a kid some have some loyalty even though the Coach doesn't MAKE ENOUGH MONEY.
And this is Marshall. The school and the fans have endured much in their football program's history.
Loyalty, Heritage and everything good is gone.

Hopefully NCAA will see what a shitshow this is now.
Too late. The NCAA failed to act when it was obvious this was coming, and now they’re totally impotent because of lawyers and stupid judges.

The courts don’t give a shite about fans or college football. They’ll view everything through the lens of employment and labor law. And they’ll continue to ruin the sport.

They didn’t allow anything. Federal judge issued a TRO against the NCAA concerning putting limits on transfers.
If they actually cared, they could keep fighting it in the courts.

Schools need to drop football so that the number of schools these guys can transfer to is limited. There’s no point in having bowl games for everyone. The bowls should be reduced to the ones connected to the playoffs.!

Good luck with that. The sports bros are terminally addicted.

Well you could make a very strong argument that Marshall is the issue here for not showing that same thing to their coach. Regardless, the point remains, that this isn't an indication of some issue that will end all bowl games. It's a unique situation where the AD put the football program in jeopardy.

Yep nothing like winning your conference championship and then losing your whole team immediately after to the portal. Good times in college football for sure
To be fair, this is basically the set of circumstances that I support it.
They are leaving in protest of the school effectively firing the coach who gave them that.

Honestly tech fans are probably devastated they have to watch another game coached by Cumbie

The bowl games will cease to exist.
Or the bowls will have to pay the players that participate (not just show up).

Kind of like LSU when had Kirklin playing qb in the bowl.

Saw this earlier
As of Saturday morning, Marshall has 36 players in the transfer portal, including 29 scholarship players and 17 players on the team's two-deep for the Sun Belt title game. All three Thundering Herd quarterbacks who played this season are in the portal, including starter Braylon Braxton, the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year.
Defensive end Mike Green, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, declared for the NFL draft Friday. A number of Marshall staff members also have left, some joining Huff at Southern Miss.

They aren’t far from this now. There are several games without a title sponsor. This means that businesses are not willing to put their money behind many of these bowl games.
Look at the title sponsors for games not a part of the CFP. You have the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl, Wasabi Fenway Bowl, Transperfect Music City Bowl, among others. Hell LSU is in the Kinder Texas Bowl.
To think people made fun of the Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl, but at least you knew what they sold.

They should do away with those bowl games

My prediction is that unless the NCAA or a court steps in, what we are going to see college football turn into is another pro league. The top schools in the Big 10 and SEC will be the top tier, paying the most NIL and pulling players every year from the other lower tier conference schools.
5 star high School players may sign with top schools but 3 and 4 stars will go to lower tier schools for immediate playing time and then transfer with NIL paydays to the top power schools. We will see 5 or so surprise teams every year come out of nowhere because they will build up a NiL pot to make a playoff run every 5 years or so.
It's going to be similar to how MLB use to buy championships then dump all then high payrolls.

With playoffs now and mass player exodus at end of season to sit out due to draft, portal etc. the non playoff bowl games will die off and eventually be gone. It will simply be playoffs only.
