The heat is dangerous to obese, dehydrated fans. Don't ever recall a player becoming ill from the heat, at any time. They practice in the heat during fall camp in August. They're used to it.
You’re not taking into account the metal and concrete bleachers. They heat up and cause the temperature to rise significantly higher than at field level. The fans also don't have swamp coolers to cool them off.

My brother and I were at the UCLA game on the east side. We saw multiple people pass out, and a couple of them weren't "obese" at all. It felt like being on a day long patrol in Afghanistan or Iraq. It was literally that bad.

I'm normally opposed to government getting involved in such matters, but since the TV stations, the NCAA and the SEC quite apparently don't give two shits about the well-being of the fans anymore, I'm glad to see the Louisiana legislature stepping up amd doing this.

Cannot legislate SEC schedules.

No. But I'm sure they can force the university to only play night games. And walk away from all of the revenue that comes from getting a day slot.

The UCLA game awful. First time in my life I left a game at halftime. Spent more time seeing people passing out in the corridors than watching the game looking for something cold to drink(not alcohol).

The Auburn game where LF7 threw guys around was absolutely scorching all day.

I'm all for night games in September.

I've gotten sunburned in mid-October day game.

It can be brutal on the East side.

OK, they will just move any day games to Superdome and be the laughing stock of the SEC and the nation,

Just add some EXTREMELY LARGE solar shades over the top of tiger stadium.

Those things were money in the sand box.

I also generally hate gov't getting involved, but I think it's legit for a state legislature to prohibit a state university from playing day games, if they think it's a safety issue.

But they should realize that TV controls the kickoff times. If there was no TV, all games would be night games, just like when I was a kid in the 1970s.

So LA can pass this bill, but they should realize the SEC (and LSU) risk losing TV revenue when the TV networks react.

I understand where you're coming from but it's probably why LSU has so many night games as a tradition.

I think that’s definitely why, Iirc Florida St was the same,

So in a way either the SEC doesn't care about health & safety or they don't care about tradition.

You guys can stop with the “safety” nonsense, the reasons you favor is tradition. The vast majority of other schools plus pro spots are played outside in the heat. If it was a “safety” issue there would be outcries from other places than a school whose fans want night games so they can drink longer

I'm late to the thread, but it needs to end day games forever, not just Septembers.

Whose not who's.

I don't drink. I don't like sunburn and heat stroke.

morning practices, evening practices, and an indoor facility.

Even hardo coaches back in the day weren't doing 3pm practices for two-a-days outside

UCLA game- I watched two people get medical attention. One was not a good situation and had to be wheelchaired out. It was brutal. On that East side.

I made myself go to UCLA game last season since it’s the only time they have ever played here but that was as miserable as I’ve ever been.

Arizona has some law like this. The SEC might take it sour and say ok LSU now you’re gonna play on Friday night at 7 PM in September.

Anyone who attended the UCLA game last year can’t disagree with this.

Would it not be the SEC or NCAA who sets game times, especially for television?
