If Miles goes to michigan LSU will not miss a beat

LSU's pure talent alone has overcome some pretty bad coaching decisions. I don't think LSU would decline any myself.

quote:Actually as much as I whine about Mile's buffoonery at times I agree with you. We would miss him. Who in the world could/would we get to replace him at this time? In my opinion the only coaches in the country that could be considereed better than him are Meyer, Saban, poss. Carroll, Brown, and maybe ??? I don't know. Based on his success here there really isn't anyone we could get that would be better. Sure, we could go after someone like Brian Kelly, but who really knows how well he'd fit here? I don't know who the TCU guy is, but again not proven at a big time school with all the pressure that comes with it.
If Miles goes to michigan LSU will suffer. book it.

As someone else said, so long as didn't hire someone like Hallman.

Butch Davis?
Recruiting and toughness.
Les did out recruit him for Montgomery, but I see Davis as a solid fit at LSU if Les decides to take the UM job.
I may be one of the only people who think Les is a very solid coach, not great, but he gets the job done well.
People blame Les for last year's problems, but the QB situation was a large part of it. Once Jefferson has a full year of experience the offense should improve. Jefferson is THE youngest starting QB in the SEC and the youngest to start at LSU in over 20 years.
The worst decision Les has ever made was the Co-DCs.

I am not a Les Miles fan but early on I supported the guy. However, watching the 2007 fiasco and his comments and facial demeanor during his presser following the game I knew the guy enjoyed being at LSU but his heart and soul resides in Michigan. I hope the guy gets his opportunity and has lots of success if he gets a second chance at his dream job. He a Michigan and would be the Michigan man leading that program. Who knows maybe we could play them a time or two.

I would be thankful to Les for the time and memories and yes, he did win a big one. If he leaves, however, recruiting might take a step back...unless you pick the RIGHT name and not settle for 4th or 5th down on the list, which by the way, is what Saban was when we were trying to lure Pat Sullivan, Glen Mason, and others back in '99.

Gruden is garbage..
RR is worse..
If we hire tommy tuberville i quit
o and Saban will come back to LSU should Les leave...
ahahahahhahaah $20 says someone buys that last one!

WHy quit if we got Tuberville?
That's a coach that at least knows the SEC and could recruit the hell out of a lot of good places for us (Mobile being one).
It's not going to happen anyway, but if Miles did leave, TT would be a better hire than what Miles was in '04.

RR is going to last another year. No matter what. If LSU goes 11-2 this year and next, then I think Michigan pulls the plug on RR.
Having said that, RR is going to lose, what, 7 out of the last 8 games and he will only win 1 game in the Big 10 this year. Man, that's bad, real bad.
Me, I like Jack Del Rio. Did you know Mike Shula is Jacksonville's QB Coach.

Here is a VERY possible scenario:
If Iowa can beat Ohio state, and take control of the Big 10 for the Rose Bowl, and possibly send Ohio State to the Cap One Bowl. Miles and LSU meet the B-eyes in the Cap one bowl and hammer Ohio State again, and UM fans, alum and admin start to salivate. RR doesn't last because of big losses to Ohio State and whoever else to give them another losing season.
Who else would they want besides an alum, beats Ohio state, recruits well, and wins big games? Not to mention connections in the Southern recruiting circles and a MNC.

I'm telling you, after looking at Michigan's schedule, at the end of the season, they will have lost 7 out of 8 and only 1 win in the Big 10, and that against Indiana.
No wonder they are going ballistic up there. I don't know how much RR's buyout is, but they are gonna be on a witch hunt before season's end.
Now, if LSU wins out, goes 10-2 heading to bowl game, those Miles fans up there are gonna be passing the hat at church to get the guy. Will he go? I don't know. But Miles to Michigan is gonna be news story this December.
Wow, I never realized how this could all happen.
Also, just plug in "Jack Del Rio on the hot seat" and see what it gets you. Our guys were at the hotel waiting to meet Del Rio when he didn't show up because if he would have, he would have been fired (so rumor has it).
For what it's worth, Del Rio is a disciplinarian, with a capital D. He benched a player for a game for missing curfew. This season. In the NFL.

Les Miles at LSU:
1 National Championship (2007)
1 SEC Championships (2007)
2 SEC Western Division Championships (2005, 2007)
Record: 49–13 (.790)
Yeah, let's run this guy off.

Great idea!!! But I say why stop there? Assemble a coaching staff of Bobby Bowden, Joe Paterno, Lou Holtz

I never said anything in my post about running the dude off.
Mile's record is exactly why Michigan would legitimately look at the dude. They already are. Big Miles fan contingent in Michigan.
