Not only is RR losing games, he's alienated the entire fanbase. I would be very surprised if he stays.

Maybe Miles is their man again.

I believe the could fire him w/ cause due to the ongoing ncaa investigation of practice infractions. That would eliminate the buyout, potentially.

There really is some serious talk at Mich. Even Ott a friend of RR's addressed it today.

miles would be. I have several friends in NW ohio where I use to work and they say a big core of mIch alums wanted miles and they still want him. He is a much better fit for Mich than LSU.

I tend to believe LSU isn't that lucky.

Either way, they'll spend December bracing for possible bad news from the NCAA.

The school and NCAA are investigating to find out if the Wolverines violated rules regarding practice hours and offseason workouts.

Really does look bad for RR.

Look, this is a fan forum for pete's sake, not sworn testimony in a courtroom. This is the place for rampant speculation. I don't want to see Miles leave, let me put that out there. But frankly, I think it's at least 50-50, if not greater, than Rich Rod gets canned by Mich. And yes, I think Miles would be at the top of their list. And yes, I think he'd consider it.

One would think the LSU AD has a short list of replacement candidates (one would think) that he keeps in his pocket, but previous coaching searches have surprised me at how poorly-thought out they've been. You don't hire a "search consultant" ... you're an athletic director. You talk to agents constantly, you keep your ear to the ground ... you keep a short list of candidates, just in case.

Again, I DON'T want Miles to leave, but if he did, I would think the following coaches would be candidates (in no particular order): Muschamp; Gruden; Cowher; Kelly (Cincinnati); Grobe (Wake Forest); Rodriguez himself; D'Antonio (Mich St); Pinkel (Mo); Turner Gill (Buff); Mike Riley (Org. St.); Tuberville; Spurrier; Jeff Fisher. (TN Titans). Darkhorse candidates: Gregg Williams; Charley Strong.

Available or Soon to be Available:

Jeff Fisher - Titans
John Gruden
Mike Shannahan
Bill Cowher

Three of the above can show personal superbowl rings to recruits w/ NFL dreams.

LSU is currently paying 4 million /year. Just about anyone is a possibility for that cheese.

God, I don't ask you for much. Please send Miles to Michigan. Please, I'll volunteer at the Salvation Army for a year. Please hear my prayer.

Amen.

A Big House Divided

quote:

There was a large number of Michigan Men who wanted former player and assistant and current LSU coach Les Miles to take over, thereby keeping alive the Bo Schembechler lineage -- "disciples" Gary Moeller and Carr followed Schembechler.

Now, there's a perception those Miles backers never will be happy with Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is a bad fit at Mich. (obviously). He's a great coach. I think he'd be a great fit at LSU. But, there's no way LSU would hire him at this point. His system would work down here w/ the talent he'd have. At Mich., not so much.
