They’re pretty good. Coming into it, they had just beaten Auburn twice, Arizona, Oregon State and Louisville. That doesn’t happen by accident. Relief pitching was strong. They’re the kind of team that just sneaks up on you…home run here and there, couple of stolen bases and another run here and there and next thing you know, they’ve got the lead or tied it up. They won’t overpower you or dominate an inning, they just keep hacking at it.

Yesterday’s game was a perfect example. LSU firmly felt in control of the entire game, yet, bottom of the ninth and they’ve got one on first base with no outs. One swing and it’s a tie game.

They were very good. Just never faced LSU level pitching

West Virginia and UCLA were more impressive hitting teams than Coastal.

The LSU side of the bracket in Omaha was definitely the stronger of the 2 sides. Arky likely comes out of that side had their seeding been a tad different.

Im sure theyd have still shite the bed in the Championship Series

They cracked under the pressure. That was clear. Everyone did. Even the coaches

ESPN did a short feature on their catcher and his "technique" in framing pitches. In the feature, he moved the glove into the strike zone as if that was the way he did it in games. It was lightning fast (like a sleight of hand) in the feature, but it looked just like any other catcher in real time during the game. Nothing special at all.

Morrison actually pitched great until that meltdown inning. That one was really weird. Don't know what happened there it was almost like the audio thing he was complaining about ate him up that inning because his pitch sequence was weird and LSU was on the pitches. He kinda pooped his pants that inning. Before that he was rolling.

He got rattled after getting booed very loudly when the 2nd replacement didn’t work.

Rhetorical Question for Rantards: Why do we want to brag about beating an “average at best” team for the Title?

So true.

Solid team but nothing "special", probably middle of the league in the SEC

I disagree. This LSU team was arguably the best we’ve ever had, and they lost two close games to us after having won 26 in a row, including eight against tournament competition. That was a very good CCU team.

Coach over thought his strategy and switched the Friday and Saturday starters, so that the guy who is used to having the pressure of losing a series didn't have to worry about that, and the Ace who isn't used to playing with that kind of pressure had to.

The pressure overcame him. He never seemed comfortable today.

Pretty sure this was their rotation all tournament

Not even a week ago and alternate history already being made. Jones HR against UCLA was in B1, well before the game restarted in the 4th inning 15+ hours later

You're right, not sure why I was remembering it wrong.

Anyway, going down in 3-0 hole and immediately taking the lead was when I thought this team would do it.

The catcher, Bodine, was hyped and did not play especially well in this two game series.

Dont be confused. Flukie is their ace and he delivered a pretty good outing

It's not like we those two games were easy. (1-0 and 5-3) Hopefully, they were a pretty good team that made it too the finals. I think we beat a worthy opponent, not ready for prime time, but worthy

I called it Saturday night.

The game was tight, and they showed Morrison in the dugout several times. He had a blank, almost shellshocked expression. I told my wife, he looks scared. He is going to melt tomorrow as soon as they get a few runners on.

Sure enough. That’s exactly what happened. The moment was too big for him.
