Given that reality, the winner of the 2 pm game has about a 99% chance of going superregional, and the loser is effectively screwed. I know LSU pulled that off a couple times in the Bertman era, but the Tigers had MUCH deeper pitching back then.

So...win, baby, win!

If we lose today, we’re f’d. Can be no losing at all. It’s time to rake like this team is capable of raking and it’s time for our pitchers to pitch to their potential. Beavers are made to get f’d. Let’s be natural.

ALL in today with the pitching staff. Floyd, Hurd, Ack, Coleman, etc Winning this game puts an unbelievable amount of pressure on any team that makes it back to the winner's bracket. Bats and defense need to support the pitching staff ALL game.

I think we are all about to be very disappointed. Does it matter how much rest he has if we don’t make it out of this weekend? OSU can mash, but somehow that didn’t factor into the equation Friday either only rest did.

You know what we have 2 aces and the 2nd is named Floyd. We just gotta win today and I feel really good about this regional and Skenes will be ready to roll game 1 of Super.

I don’t think you understand what an ace is.

Skenes
Era 1.9
SO 179
Whip 0.79

Floyd
Era 4.59
SO 76
Whip 1.15

It’s a shame we wasted the best pitcher in college baseball against Tulane isn’t it.

This game decides the regional

I want to agree but the offense only plated 7. If Floyd had been solid but unspectacular then he’d have given up 3 runs in 5-6 innings. Then you have everyone not named Skenes or Floyd to give up less than 4 runs in 3-4 innings. How comfortable are you really?

I think we win today? I'm with everyone else, I'd hate to think about winning three straight in two days.

Agreed! It’s a push all of your chips to the middle of the table now. That’s where we are

Your ace can't pitch more than one game in this thing, youre crying for nothing.

Ok Ranters, the team needs us! Time to focus and move on from the past, debates and distractions. Whatever you’re doing, wherever your are, stop, lay down flat on floor, stare at ceiling, close your eyes, visualize success…. Crews seeing that fastball and driving it to the left-center gap…. Tanks hitting three over the Intimidator… Jobert crushing a Jo-bomb to take the lead in the 8th…. Floyd striking out 12…

Now repeat three times out loud slowly:

National Champions

National Champions

National Champions

I've always maintained the CWS is the tough test trophy in sports to win....just the regional are a grinder, then to play an everything on the line win or go home 3 game series...best on best THEN the pitching staff meat grinder that is Omaha.....love it!

I’m more confident that Floyd could shut down Tulane than I am that he can shut down OSU. Floyd is a solid guy and he’s been having good outings, but it’s likely he would have done more than enough for LSU to beat Tulane. If you really think Tulane could beat Floyd then you’d have to think he’d have zero chance against OSU. I still think we win today but all of us would be more “comfortable” knowing we had the best pitcher in the ncaa facing the better hitting team in this regional.

But then it is short rest or push the next weekend. Now it looks like a brilliant decision to start him.

Personally I would feel a lot better with this scenario you just described vs Tulane than the same scenario taking place this afternoon against a MUCH better hitting and pitching team in OSU. But it’s irrelevant because rest was the deciding factor made on Friday. Don’t worry though because if we don’t pull this off today then our pitchers will have plenty of rest!
