From the Twitter account of Steven Godfrey with SBNation.....

Sources to @SBNation: LSU delivered Dave Aranda a new contract Sunday. He’s expected to sign, and is recruiting for LSU today.

Good news, get this done fast. Hopefully his buyout includes the first born son of the offering party.

I will say this about Aranda: he seems to be all about business and the task in front of him. I don't read him as the type to jerk us around for a few dollars more, when there is work to be done. He, more than anyone else involved with this university I love dearly, gives me confidence moving forward.

Aranda is great, but LSU is a stepping stone for him, IMO. That being said, I don't see him taking a risky lateral move to TX...I just don't.
I think he knows if he stays here, with a better OC, his name will be at the top of every coaching search in a year or 2.

That's not the case at TX

From some of the things I have read it seems like Amanda has his sights set on the NFL. If so why leave LSU.

One or 2 more years of coach a lot of pro prospects and put a dominate defense in the SEC west he will be getting calls

If he leaves he has to start over

tom herman has, on the surface, really screwed LSU. he gave us a verbal that he was going to be our next coach and then broke that agreement. no matter what excuse is given, that's a low down move. to steal Aranda now would be a double cross of epic proportions. my hope is that Aranda's word is worth more and he stays with us. a man's word is truly a mark of character.

that being said, it's likely a good thing that Herman did not come here; he obviously was not a Tiger and being a HC takes total commitment.

we would survive Aranda leaving but keeping him (for a few more years) gives the LSU program a chance to turn the corner from les miles and recover.

Except that we are depleted. We have huge question marks at LB, CB and S next year. Anyone who disagrees with that is clueless. Have you seen Donte and Tolliver try to cover someone? And now without adams and Thomas...

Has anyone mentioned that maybe Aranda is pissed off that Herman backed out on LSU?
Think about it, he was offered what he asked for and was to join his "friend" at LSU.

Then he flipped and left his boy hanging. Why in th frick would Aranda follow? In my opinion, the NFL would hire Aranda right now before Herman. They've had their share of high powered college offensive minds failing miserably at the next level.

LOL...we'll be fine at all db spots. Our DL will make them even better.

White at LBer

Besides, isn't that kind of challenge exactly what makes legends as a defensive coach?

Granted that's not a lot of experience but a metric shite ton of talent.

Because that's what happened. Herman is garbage and Texas can have him.

Was it leaked that Herman actually verbally agreed to be LSU's head coach and then withdrew or are you just basing this off of all the speculation and rumor that was going around a few days ago?

Any news on whether Aranda signed the contract? This sounds like the Chavis situation where he didn't sign right away. We all know how that played out...

While i'm 100% with you on your assessment, it is the agents you have to worry about. And for the most part, they will do anything for a few dollars more...
Hoping that it is signed today!
