Almost lost in this pathetic “I’m the toughest guy on the TigerDroppings webpage” exchange, brought about in part because of your repressed childhood trauma and lack of basic reading comprehension, is your complete lack of basketball knowledge…keep being the toughest guy on a web platform though, that seems to be your best chance at success

This is all real life to you isn’t it?
Super serious stuff.

We did actually throw a press at them early in the game which I've been begging us to try, and it worked! Surprised the hell out of them. We forced a jump ball, only never to see it again until the end when the game was over.
We did run a handful of times a very passive 3/4 trap that was poorly executed and therefore did not work. Not the same as the one press we did early in the first half.
But I do believe with the struggles this team has in half-court offense - and it was fully on display again last night how bad those struggles are, we need to do other things to try to create early offense and more pressing and trapping I think is something we need to try more.
We can't just keep doing the same thing over and over knowing it's not working.....can we?

I have to say, the inbounds plays I've seen lately suck arse. No screens with flashbacks to the rim, just a bunch of guys running around like ants fleeing a disturbed ant hill.

We hired this guy because people wanted a good inbounds play every once in a while. Apparently, there’s more to coaching basketball than drawing up a play in a timeout.

We really did compete well. We are so close I can feel it in my plums.
If everyone would just calm down and realize it take 4-5 recruiting classes to get rolling in college basketball.

I love coming here to watch the melt over LSU losing to #1 ranked team. Yes there are some criticisms of some of MM choices but there is still a talent gap between us and them. We are literally a Reed and an SEC caliber PG away from being able to beat a team like that. Yes it's MM responsibility to find that PG. Givens isn't it right now. Maybe he progresses. Sears ain't it. But let's not forget Wade not being able to inbound the ball under our own goal many times when he was here. Selective memory. That being said as bad as they played last night it was a 6 point game with 7 min left in 2nd half. Broom is the best player in the country behind Flagg at Duke. Coaching ain't overcoming that. Reed would have helped tremendously on the defensive side. wouldn't be backed down so easily. But TO are the issue with this team and the really dumb ones like stepping out of bounds or throwing lazy high passes or dribbling of your foot. None of those are coaching either. You have to get better guards and that is the one criticism I would have about MM. But make no mistake about it Reed makes a difference in the last 4 SEC games. May not have one all of them but may have pulled off one and with a Vandy win would there be so much vitriol,. LOL.Probably.

Is this your not at all veiled attempt at not saying your only measure of success? Here, I’ll do it for you:
They competed!

Wade’s teams sucked at inbounding, perimeter defense, and chasing loose balls but good gravy somehow the team as a whole was competitive and won a frickload of games and the conference. Even his worst offensive team (his last group) looks like the 2015 warriors in contrast to this group.

As a fan of another team, last night was my first look at a full LSU game and you're spot on here. The half-court sets were almost nonexistent. A bunch of dribbling to the top of the key and nobody moving hardly. LSU's best offense all game was hoping to get down quick in transition. And that killed AU several times. There just weren't enough rebounds to do it consistently. Has to be incredibly frustrating as a fan.
I did come away impressed with Carter and Collins. Those guys are solid players. Sears also showed that he could get hot and score in bunches. His TOs kind of negated that last night though. Looking at it from the outside, and my limited knowledge of the team, it seems like there's enough talent to compete, but the coaching and any sort of identity are two areas that seem to be severely lacking.

My comment was not an attempt to say MM is as good a coach as Wade and yes they did compete with the best team in the country and lost because Auburn has more talent than LSU at this time. That is one thing Wade had that overcame any shortcomings he may have had was talent. Take Waters off that team and then what do you have. He alone got us in position to win so many times. We don't have that at this time. But this team is a couple of players away from being able to win these games and if Reed was playing it may have been enough to beat AL and maybe TAM. For sure Vandy. And i'll say it again for the hard heads. Out of the 8-9 man rotation for Auburn, 6 Srs 2 jrs 1 freshman. LSU 3 Srs, 1 Jr ( with limited PT till this year), 1 So, 4 Fr . If you don't understand the difference i can't help you.

You summed up the concerns many of us have here having just watched us once - some of which has very little to do with talent or lake thereof.

McBore is the king of inept inbound defense

Thanks for sharing and syncing up with the exact observations that people with basketball knowledge have made….idiots like Tigerbr1111 or whatever the hell his name was are either dumb or blinded by fandom

quote:seriously? We had 20 turnovers and gave up 24 offensive rebounds. That's absolutely atrocious.
At the moment, we are competing pretty well with the number one team in the country. This is not exactly the game that I would choose to bitch about.

Well you’ve got emotionally immature and fragile folks like the OP here on the Rant. Their lives are completely wrapped up in the teams and they become fraught like children when LSU loses no matter how the game plays out.
If they had a bit more perspective and balance they wouldn’t be such emotional and miserable drama queens.
