Highly doubtful a freshman is having a rotation spot over Evans, W Schmidt, Landon Hood, and cooper Moore.

Have we not learned anything from last season? Let's not count our eggs quite yet.

It’s funny how many people on this board are so sure what the “right” decision for him is.

It just seems very risky to turn down close to 2 mil and go to juco in the hopes of getting more money a year from now. I'm not sure his draft stock is going to get much higher with 1 year of juco competition and the MLB is more than likely going to be in a lockout in 2027 so who knows what the draft will even look like. I'm all for athletes betting on themselves, but this seems like risking a lot to gain very little imo.

We all get that, but he'll likely have to turn down a lucrative NIL offer from LSU and receive nothing at juco next year if he goes the juco route.
yeah but if he's as good as he thinks he is he could do 1 year in JUCO and be a 1st round pick next year and not wait 3 years.

If he's as good as thinks he is, he'll be a first rounder in 3 years. Does he net more with 3 years of NIL and then a first round contract vs getting nothing at juco?

Well let’s hope Schmidt doesn’t realize this and still comes to LSU

last season as in 2 of the 3 preseason starters pitch the whole year? If your reasoning is transfers from the portal, pitchers are more easy to predict than hitters when it comes to competition.

With Schmidt, I'm getting Bo Callahan vibes. Might be better for us if he goes Juco.

The ranter wind has blown to the opinion that he will likely not come to LSU, so we get a huge influx of post saying we are better without him, we never wanted him anyway, he is not that good, he is spoiled, etc. Etc. Etc.

You want a top MLB pitching prospect on campus......period. There isn't a scenario where we don't want this kid, assuming he wants to be here for 3 years, we can work out the money, and he is willing to develop.

Did we ask Logan if his teammates went to his birthday party?

I agree. You get the best players you can get to campus. If any of the stuff people are saying are red flags comes up Jay will deal with it. An 18 year old LHP throwing 96 with a 85 changeup and 78 curveball who throws strikes is someone you want if you can get him. Full stop.

It looks like he reclassified to 2026 and graduated early.

Big kid, but looks soft physically right now, as expected for most 17 year olds.

Is his goal to be the best player he can be in 3 years? Or is the goal to get a higher signing bonus next year?

Hard to argue against being at LSU for the next 3 years making him a better player than going the JUCO route.

Perfect Game Bio

Hope he has someone with lots of experience to help him make an informed decision.

he could also be a 1st rounder after Juco and get that money 2 years sooner. kid clearly has no intention of playing school.

The few scouts Ive seen talk about him refer to his fastball having to be completely reworked. Which is very common but It’s just very flat, with very little to no break on it. Think Blake Money. But obviously the physical tools and upside is through the roof. But most insist they don’t see him in this signing class with LSU. But weirder shite has happened.

This is not true. He just needs time to make a decision. This decision wasn’t on his or LSU radar. He will announce decision tomorrow probably.

Deadlines are usually firm but a few get broken. Sounds like he's made the decision. He's probably unhappy that he was promised one thing and asked to take half that. Life is a b*tch.

Passing on $1.6m to play juco for free seems risky

If he wanted to be elsewhere he would be elsewhere. See how that works? There is an opposite side of that coin. Just depends if you want to have a hopeful outlook, or a negative one. We know where you stand.

I don't think he ends up at LSU, but I would be thrilled if he did.
