Max isn’t anything special but a lot of you all obviously have not seen King play to think he’s a lock to start next year

No one agreed the first time I said it because we were still trying to hang on to that dude, but he folds like a fricking lawn chair anytime the pressure is remotely on. I’ve never seen anyone look worse more consistently at the slightest sign of pressure than Max. It was awful.
I was so shocked that he actually pieced together one good high pressure drive against A&M, because all season long he’d look good when it didn’t matter and then turn into stone feet scared shitless deer in the headlights as soon as we actually needed him to play well

I’d argue if he’s only going to ride the pine at A&M he’s hurting them more than us by taking up a scholly spot.
Ultimately, he’s hurting himself most. No chance he showcases his talent there either.

yes but its also crystal clear max doesnt have what it takes to be a starting QB for any team so they are leveraging what they have to get the max return on any possible income sources so whats the issue with that? its not like he can go somewhere and be effective as a starting QB on any relevant team

If Max was going to transfer ,he could have at least picked a school where they know what the word championship means.

If that's the reason, I hope they at least talked to CBK. Mayer at ND had 64 catches for 515 yards and 5 TDs. Wydermyer from aTm had 40 catches for 515 yards and 4 TDs. Notre Dame's backup tight ends also outperformed aTm's.
In addition, if Kelly brings in Denbrock as OC, he is somewhat known for using tight end based RPOs.
Maybe the Johnsons just didn't like it here, because I'm not sure they can find a better situation elsewhere.
