Should not happen just bc they are athletes it would be beneficial for Louisiana to adopt fl path of no income tax plus a few others also talks of getting rid of property tax

The objections were inevitable. Particularly on title 9 grounds. She doesn’t have a strong personal argument against it. She’s just agreeing to be a plaintiff because of her notoriety.
The backup SS on the softball team is going to demand to be paid equal to the all conference QB solely on the logic that they are “equal” because they are both college athletes. The marketplace has no bearing in the argument.
That’s why I’ve never given much credence to the House settlement, because I never have felt it would be enforced…as least under the terms as agreed upon. This will likely find its way to the USSC

This is why I do not support tax exemption for NIL earnings.
If I can pay taxes on every earned dollar in my life, so can they.
Life's a bitch when you grow up.

I suspect the proposed LA exemption is driven by LSU athletics. IOW, the exemption helps LSU be competitive on the NIL field with other schools whose NIL intake isn't subject to state income tax.

Why do you all post this as some kind of gotcha
If she hasn’t paid her taxes then the IRS will eventually go after her. It’s not that complicated

Greed by the players? Try the NCAA, schools and coaches. This all could’ve been averted years ago but god forbid I buy a kid who just happens to play a sport a hamburger. Or selling jerseys with the “number/likeness” yet the kid who wears that number can’t afford nor someone buy it for them. Coaches making 100 mil and buy outs because they suck. Johnny Manziel could and did sell his autograph for ( can’t remember the exact amount) and that’s illegal in the eyes of the ncaa. Want to be mad at someone… start with the NCAA who
ignored the glaring problem of free labor while everyone else was making millions.

Under the proposed $ 2.8 billion House settlement, the NCAA will pay $ 1.1 billion directly from its reserve funds and the remaining $ 1.665 billion will be paid by schools via reduced NCAA income distributions over the next ten years. But the proposed allocation of the amount due from schools is receiving some justified criticism. Under the proposal, Power conference schools will be responsible for $ 675 million or about 40% and all other NCAA I schools will be responsible for $ 990 million or around 60%. The issue is that Power conference schools account for over 80% of athletic revenues while all other D1 schools account for less than 20%.

The athletes had it so bad. They probably should have just played in an organization that allowed all of the things they wanted and stayed away from the evil NCAA.

Excellent points.

The ignorance and jealousy shown on this board is what is most depressing. When did it become wrong to seek what one has lost or what one is worth ? Plus Ms. Dunne is using her pedestal to shed light on the issue for all under compensated athletes.

Undoubtedly.
I think all students in all states should pay NIL taxes.
If they get to professional sports leagues, they will be paying taxes. No reason to give them unrealistic expectations.

Holy Cow! How arrogant is this girl? She is one of the highest NIL earner regardless of sex and she has done very little if anything for the LSU gymnastics team. Pay her for the points she has scored in the SEC and NCAA championships. That comes to zero. She probably not among the best 10 on the team and she's complaining about making far more than any of her teammates.
