So Alabama gave up a kickoff return and some points in one game, and Georgia shut out Arkansas and held Auburn to ten points on the road, so their defenses are as bad as Oklahoma's defense? I disagree, but certainly respect your opinion.

OU fans lurking and downvoting

This thread is full of ignorant posts worthy of downvotes.

I don't know what's dumber; people thinking it would be easy to lure Riley away from a blue blood program, or people thinking Riley is a mediocre coach.

If you were betting and I was the bookie I would take your money and then break your legs out of principle.

All you're doing is degrading everyone's coaching preference in every thread. Let's hear yours.

The only real selling point to come here is that he will have a much stronger recruiting base. Oklahoma as is has to fight for Texas recruits and typically don’t win that when it comes to defense.
this.

Also, why the love for Napier? He'll probably be a great major program coach some day, but ULL and their schedule is small potatoes. Risky.

I’d love a Riley hire, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

It is EXTREMELY rare for a coach to leave an elite P5 job for another. Jimbo from FSU to A&M is a very very rare thing.

That said, we all know who was involved in Jimbo to A&M

He has ties to LSU?

Riley, Saban, Kiffin, Fisher aren't happening and those names should stop being floated. Wouldn't be surprised if Fickell decides to stay put too, they just have no reason to jump from a program on the upswing to a floundering LSU.

It's not like the old days where only the blue bloods put resources into their football programs, these days it's big money and facilities everywhere. The playing field as far as programs go is more level than its ever been, especially since NIL is a thing.

It's gonna have to be somebody like Napier, Freeze, Aranda, or Coastal Carolina's coach that wants to jump to the highest level of competition. Riley is already at one of the top 5 blue bloods in college football and can recruit from everywhere because of their history. Jimbo recruits the same grounds as LSU right now and is making an insane amount of money. Saban ain't happening regardless.

Maybe Stoops, but even that is a stretch when he's proven he can get UK to 6-0 and high standards

No reason to leave OU since they are coming to the SEC

Yeah because recruiting in Norman Oklahoma is the same as South Louisiana

Lol are y’all really this tone deaf?

if lsu gets a big time p5 coach to leave I think it'll be Cristobal.

Riley is a total pipe dream. The only reasons he'd leave is if he felt he cant recruit nationally anymore and there is simply no way for him to develop a secondary to compete. but the recruiting angle won't change for OU, and they have some promising young blue chips in the defensive backfield. I'd say the other reason would be that he wants a new challenge and is bored, but between figuring out the defensive side of the ball and moving to the sec, I think he has plenty on his plate to accomplish before he thinks about leaving.

but lsu should call and try and im sure they will. He is a perfect fit for LSU. People would get behind him the same way they do for Wade.

Are YOU really this tone deaf?

It's fcking Oklahoma, one of the top historic blue bloods of college football

Have you paid attention to their recruiting classes for like the last 20+ years? They have no problem recruiting to Norman

Some of y'all are delusional and think way too highly of LSU. Yes, it's a top program, but it's not even historically better than OU let alone right now.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't one of these:

Aranda
Kiffin
Freeze
Napier
Campbell
Fickel

I'm not a big 'master plan' guy but in retrospect it does seem like Napier has been set up as the HC in waiting for awhile now.

I remember when he had his weekly segment on Jordy and TBob a few years back thinking, wtf would ULs coach be on BR radio all the time, but it kind of makes sense now if Woody knew Title IX was coming and he would be having to make a move at some point in the next couple years.

Napier passing on multiple lucrative P5 jobs only seems to suggest this further.

The only one whose tone deaf is y'all. You do know that not every cfb program has to completely load up on in-state recruits, right? Part of the benefit of being at Oklahoma--unquestionably one of the 3 best programs in the history of the sport--is that they get to go anywhere and can get anyone. No, OU doesn't get top 5 classes every single season, but they have the same exact blue chip ratio as LSU (66%) and thats before they join the sec.

LSU has a geographical advantage only a few programs have. It makes the job incredibly easier. But that advantage is not pronounced enough to justify leaving a program like OU.

Napier is not a Home Run hire but I think he could do well here. I think Kiffin or Freeze would have the quicker turnaround than anyone.

Already getting beat by Sark in TX. UT is dominating OU for TX already. OU on its way down.
