There's no reason for him to leave Oklahoma… He's already paid a lot of money and already competes at the highest level. I believe his next stop will be the NFL

Failure hire if true. Lincoln Riley has done nothing to say he is a good coach. In fact, he’s shown the opposite. He has one of the easiest paths to the playoffs which is the only reason he’s made it, just to get his arse handed to him every single time by the first real team he goes up against. His defense may as well be coached by Pelini because it’s non existent.

If Riley is the best LSU can do, LSU is in trouble.

He would obviously be an upgrade over O, but that's not saying much.

Other than that I don't see much upside to hiring him over some of the other candidates named on this board.

I would put him in the low tier 1 coaches or high tier 2 in terms of potential LSU candidates.

I am sure some on here disagree but he really doesn't impress me outside his ability to groom QBs. I would be higher on him if he ever had a decent defense. I just worry he doesn't have the ability, for whatever reason, to bring in a good quality DC to complement his specialty on the offensive side of the ball.

Lincoln is a middle of the road coach in a second-rate conference. Hence, he runs up the scores against his second-rate opponents to pad his QB's numbers so they can win the Heisman.

In the SEC, Lincoln is nothing but a middle of the road coach and he can forget about his QBs being able to win Heismans because he won't be able to run up the score on anyone.

Neither Les or O was hired with a history of stacking up strong defenses, but we were able to turn out top notch defenses until the last two years.

Miles at least had the sense to hire good DCs. Riley hasn't shown me that he is capable of doing that.

O...let's not bring him in to this convo because he has never hired a good DC which is why we are where we are now

I guess it is possible and it would not hurt my feelings but if I had to bet I would put my $$$ on Jimbo.
Not that he is my #1 pick but we could do worse.

Have you seen Oklahoma play during his time in Norman? If you think the LSU defense is bad, let the SEC teams get a shot at the Sooner defense.

He wins a weak conference and then, despite numerous chances, hasn't won a single playoff game. In the SEC he would play those type of teams in the regular season, which means no conference championships or playoff appearances.

If Coach O is replaced, Lincoln Riley would be a good choice.

Alabama gave up points v aTm that has a 1st year qb. Georgia hasn't played against an elite offense all year. Who's to say they are good on defense? Vanderbilt, So Carolina, plus they'll steam roll KY doesn't prove anything. Kirby is a good coach but he's known for a brain fart loss once in a while

You do realize Oklahoma just signed a very public deal to move to the SEC right? You know until that time he has a stanglehold on the big 12 that basically guarantees him a spot in the playoff every year until then right? You do realize he already gets most of his players from Dallas and Houston right? I am all for a big splash hire and have no doubt Woodward will get it done but come on, why the hell would he leave the almost perfect situation he is in and why wouldn't oklahoma bend over backwards to make sure he stays?
