Further, Coach Miles has, in my opinion, prematurely rendered punishment, as it is not certainly known whether Jefferson is guilty of the alleged battery charges

Miles had not prematuraly rendered punishment. He suspended a player who has been arrested. The suspension has nothing to do with whether or not he is innocent or guilty, but everything to do with the simple fact he was arrested.

My take is Warner wrote a "well written" article that masks some unfounded statements and hypocritically jumps to his own conclusions.

Additionally, there are many that would say/argue that Alleva fell (or was pushed) on the sword at Duke and the decisions that he "made" around the Duke case were made came from above his pay grade at the university.

I don't think anyone is saying Miles did the wrong thing in suspending Jefferson. I think he is saying that Alleva put the pressure on and basically accused Jefferson right from the start which forced Miless' hand. Miles did what he had to and I don't see any reason to blame Miles.

So if a player 'allegedly' shoots and kills someone, we can't suspend him until his conviction? Is that what we are saying now?

He was charged with a felony! That can't go without any sort of discipline from football

I agree 100%. So lets get the truth out there and if Jefferson is not guilty get him back on the team asap. and if he is found guilty, then punish him accordingly.

Lots of sense, mixed with a tad of nonsense. Every respectable HC and AD in FBS football would have suspended JJ upon his arrest. The beef with the BRPD is valid, but the beef with Miles and Alleva is at best "plausible speculation" and more likely just damn wrong, and is poor thinking wrapped in elegant journalistic English.

Y'all think Miles suspended them with out talking to the guys? No. He talked to them and obviously wasnt convinced that they would 100% be proven innocent

I agree with everything Chris wrote.

Hey Chris, you want some signatures to go with your letter, petition-style?

Jordan Jefferson is still receiving a free college education, room and board, and I guess everything else that goes with it, ie food, books and the like.
I don't know how many players were at Shadys that night. From reading articles and discussion on the web sounded like around 20 or so. I don't know right off hand how many players are on the active roster, but it seemed more than 3/4 of the players knew better, and stayed out of trouble that night.
Instead of being in a fight, if proven, he should have been there policing fellow LSU players to get back to their rooms, apartments, homes whatever and get focused on Oregon University. This is what a leader does, not what he allegedly is charged for. Maybe that's why he has problems on the football field, he makes bad decisions their and off the field.
Should Miles reinstate Jefferson and send a message to other players, potential players, alumni, former alumni, and LSU fans that its alright to get in trouble. It's alright to be charged with a felony. I agree with the coach's decision.

Way to miss the point entirely.

Since you either didn't read or can't understand - He should have said something that didn't imply guilt... yet.

for all you who support what miles and alleva did, what will be your view when the facts come out that other players were envolved IN THE FIGHTING AND KICKING and miles and alleva know who they are and what they did but still allowed them to play this sat.

It turned from a bar fight to a witch hunt. Im not the biggest JJ fan, but it seems like things were thrown way out of proportion against him.

CLM is playing on the side of extreme caution. If the charges are proved true, we will have to forfeit any games that Jefferson plays.

Excuse me?

Where are you getting THAT from?

Because it's the furthest thing from the truth. This thing has not one whit to do with JJ's eligibility.
