So you're okay paying more NIL money to the same group of guys that just went 3-15 in conference? The AD has put it out there through his cronies that more money was on the way, are we really to believe that the same group of dudes with more money in their pocket and 2-3 new guys are going to perform better under this coaching staff? It's really difficult to see that happening.

I wish someone could tell me about the strengths of Matt McMahon three years in. I’ve been dead arse asking this board for years and no one can give me an answer lmao
Is matt McMahon an offensive guru? Is he a defensive guy? Is he a great motivator? I’ve never seen so much uncertainty around the core competencies of a “good” coach quite like matt McMahon. There aren’t any statistics that would give anyone any direction as to where we complement his tenure

There are people who have convinced themselves that he is actually a “GREAT (not good) x/o guy.”
His offense is on par with Trent Johnson’s Eddie Ludwig teams. His defense isn’t much better but our ineptitude on offense shortens games as we watch the shot clock dwindle each possession so that occasionally keeps good offensive teams from going off for 80+, except when it doesn’t. (See Tuesday night.)

I truly don’t get the Givens hate
It's because he's maybe literally the worst player to play significant minutes for us in the last decade. Which you cant blame him directly, but thats on coach for not getting a ball handler that can run an offense in the portal.
I would still rather watch us fail with Sears over Givens because that was at least a slightly better product. But I think coach is just handing out the playing time for the freshmen playing for the future at this point. Although who knows whats really up with Chest and Vyc Miller right now. Seem like guys definitely headed for the portal. Dont get me wrong, maybe they are legit hurt, but after the way McMahon lost Ward before the season, color me skeptical they are both hurt.

A lot of Matt McMahon apologists are borderline smug when explaining to you that you simply don’t understand good basketball while the entire conference is showing us the fifty states.
I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Many fail to understand that investment comes with promise and it’s difficult to inspire donors when you’d rather kill yourself than watch matt McMahon’s product

So to say MM can't coach is ridiculous

Trying to be objective on this site is useless. If you want to criticize MM on his portal transfers you have some argument. He has been terrible with PG. We have not had a true SEC level PG since he has been there. That has been his biggest weakness in my opinion. This was one of the youngest most inexperienced teams in the SEC, That is a fact. You can blame MM for that but it is a statistical fact. That is why the loss of Reed was so big. That and your only other post player was a freshman. Fountain is a bench player. Losing ward was also huge. If Ward wasn't strong enough to stay and compete then that is on him. So I would say that with what MM had as far as experienced talent and what he he did with that against much more talented and experienced teams was commendable. They did have a few blowouts but they were in the game late with TAM, AL, MISS ST. OM, Vand, FL , TN and Auburn. Admit he made a few mistakes at end of OM game that they should have won but if Chest doesn't get the tech and miss the easy dunk they win. So he wa able to compete with less talent and younger talent. That is all good and fine but since he is coming back he is going to have to do like Kelly and killl it in the portal to give his incoming freshmen time to develop. If he doesn't then it is time to make a change.

Looks like Chest and Vyc Miller are on their way out through the portal based on playing time recently as it is.
Both had legitimate injuries this time that limited them. That’s not to say they won’t leave (who knows), but I wouldn’t read into their recent limited minutes as any sort of sign.
The reality is no one can reasonably look towards next year until we see the roster. That is the case for EVERY team. Not just LSU. In all likelihood, LSU is going to have anywhere from 7-10 new players (including the incoming freshman).
The concern is while most of the current excuse makers said THIS year was a “make or break” year, I don’t think anyone can argue next year IS an ultimatum season. McMahon either makes the NCAA Tournament or LSU moves on. With Oklahoma, Georgia and Vandy recently getting big wins, it’s highly likely this season ends with McMahon being the only coach in the SEC who has not taken his team to the tournament. That’s going to include two first year HCs at Vandy and Kentucky.
In-demand assistant coaches and players generally don’t tend to want to join lame duck situations where they know going into it failure guarantees a complete change (we already saw this ahead of Jones’s final season and the results went as expected).
He’ll have to put forth his best recruiting effort ever because you know opposing coaches (inside and outside the SEC) will negative recruit against LSU by selling that McMahon is a “dead man walking” and the program is a “dead end” for transfers. That’s not being negative for the sake of being negative. It simply the reality of the situation

No
Simply no
And you can't ever assume the nucleus will stay intact unless you are a winning program
No optimism is deserved for next year
Scott fired wade....fine.....now reap your decision until it's fixed
Get someone else, we're fine with it, get Drew, get some young fresh blood like UF did
But Scott's fix isn't working
You want optimism, give us a reason to be that way; bc we don't have it.

He will end up 14-41 at the end of this season, with losses to A&M and the 1st round of the SEC. Tournament, after 3 years how in Zues's butthole does a record like this says that he is a good coach, what makes you think that all of sudden in year 4 he turns into this great coach, let's not forget 2 of his bigger losses this year were to a bad Texas team by more than 30 at home and then got boat raced by Kentucky who has a new coach and almost an entire new roster, a middle of the pack Kentucky team with 10 losses, and they lost by 31 and it was only that close because an average Kentucky team put in there walk ons the last 5 minutes of the game! I just don't understand how people can still think he's not only a good coach but next year because of his brilliance through recruiting and the portal he will have Lsu overall 28-4 and 16-2 in the SEC. It's time to move on from Mcloser he has shown he can't do it,you can use every excuse you want players hurt, lack of NIL Money, blah, blah, blah. The bottom line is this excuses are like buttholes they all stink, and if they keep him and 75% of his roster leaves then they will use that excuse next year. Mcloser has had plenty of time to do something,he can't move on NOW! Nothing changes if Nothing changes!

I don't get it. Why are they leaving? They are actually 2 of the best players on the team. If he loses them then mcmahon needs to come up missing.

It’s time for MM to go Coach Pete(Nolte) style, find his Happy(JT Walsh) - bring in Shaq, Penny, and Chaney(Blue Chips) and let the Chips fall where they may. I know it’s a movie & fantasy, but it’s also a movie(bad one) & fantasy(reality) to think there is any world where this Coach can win anything. That’s as civil as I can be after watching this ShtShow for 3 years.

Nobody knows that they're leaving. It's just what Saban always said about this fanbase, catastrophe syndrome. We are bad so they assume all of our good players are gone.

I don't know what team you're watching but it's not the same I'm watching. Or anyone for that matter.

A better question, why would anyone stay and/or come here?
