LSU Auburn games might be the closest of any two schools over the past 15 years

I wouldn't mind one for UF. I have no idea what. I say let's shake things up: A horrible trophy that the loser has to display. Instead of rubbing it in their faces once a year, an ongoing humiliation would be better. We are talking about the two biggest trash talking teams in the SEC on the field. By far.

frick Auburn. Even if they earn it, I still don't want to even give them the anal dribble following a nasty shite. Snot bubbles are too good for them.

Bama... eh, do we want to go there? I think not. Do we want to be their Arky? No.

Maybe it's just me but the golden boot trophy has always seemed like a forced rivalry.

If we're going to make a trophy for the LSU/UF rivalry, it should be made of chromed pot metal, in the shape of a double wide trailer with a tornado plowing through it.

Also acceptable: a burning mattress in a convenience store parking lot.

no - you can't force these things. The only good rivalry trophies are the ones that go back 60, 70+ years and have some history and meaning (like the Old Oaken Bucket - Indiana-Purdue since 1925).

Just inventing a "rivalry" trophy doesn't work. It has no meaning.

The Golden Boot was started in my 2nd year at LSU (1996). Since then I can recall many Thanksgiving Fridays watching some epic matches with my family gathered together for the holiday weekend. Too many to list. I like the rivalry and the tradition. Arky is down this year but the game always seems to be close and hard fought.

The 1st game between the teams was played in 1901.

If we are talking about yearly teams we play in terms of win/loss, that would be Alabama. We are 7/8 in the last 15 games. Florida is next at 9/6.

Not sure about individual game scores for all of them but in terms of margin of victory with Auburs its either a blowout or a game for the ages it seems. 5 games were 2 touchdowns or more, 4 were 21 points or more), LSU won 4 of those. The other 10 games were 7 points or less, 9 less than 7.

Last 15 Games LSU W/L

Alabama 7/8
Florida 9/6
Arkansas 10/5
Auburn 10/5
Ole Miss 11/4
Miss State 13/2

Interesting stuff

We all agree with that.

I guess I get what you're say as far as the trophy itself goes but LSU Arkansas goes way back. I'll repost what I did in anther thread.

I understand people look at it as a "manufactured" rivalry and it essentially is in terms of modern rivalries, so would the Tulane rivalry if it were to be reinstituted. But there was a stretch where we played R-Kansas every year From 1906 to 1936 with most games in Shreveport from 1913 to 1936. In those days regional rivalries were the hallmark of college football. LSU led that series when it ended 16-12.

1906 Baton Rouge, LA Tie 6–6
1907 Baton Rouge, LA LSU 17–12
1908 Little Rock, AR LSU 36–4
1909 Memphis, TN Arkansas 16–0
1910 Little Rock, AR Arkansas 51–0
1911 Little Rock, AR Arkansas 11–0
1912 Little Rock, AR LSU 7–6
1913 Shreveport, LA LSU 12–7
1914 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 20–12
1915 Shreveport, LA LSU 13–7
1916 Shreveport, LA LSU 17–7
1917 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 14–0
1919 Shreveport, LA LSU 20–0
1920 Shreveport, LA LSU 3–0
1921 Shreveport, LA LSU 10–7
1922 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 40–6
1923 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 26–13
1924 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 10–7
1925 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 12–0
1926 Shreveport, LA LSU 14–0
1927 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 28–0
1928 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 7–0
1929 Shreveport, LA Arkansas 32–0
1930 Shreveport, LA LSU 27–12
1931 Shreveport, LA LSU 13–6
1932 Shreveport, LA LSU 14–0
1933 Shreveport, LA LSU 20–0
1934 Shreveport, LA LSU 16–0
1935 Shreveport, LA LSU 13–7
1936 Shreveport, LA #13 LSU 19–7

All that to say I think part of LSU's reasoning regarding the "rivalry" is that it may be a recruiting tool for kids in North Louisiana, where there is some pro Arkansas sentiment, who may see Arkansas as a valid option to LSU. Because of that, I kinda like it, though I am not sure if that is actually very effective.

It should be a chrome bust of Joe Alleva. The loser has to display it in the center of their school's trophy display.

That’s simply just not true. Arkansas could catch on fire and if North Louisiana had to pee real bad they could hold it.

Dilly motherfricking dilly!

Maybe Monticello and El Dorado are seen as "LA North", but somewhere south of I-30 it turns into "frick these mid-westerners"

Ask Fulton and Pops about their view on Arky. I share it.

I think LSU should have one with A&M considering its one of our oldest rivals. Older than Arkansas and other SEC teams.
