The wild card lies in conference schedules. Bammer and OM skate in 2009.

1 LSU vs Alabama
2 Ala Vs LSU
3 AU
4 Ole Miss- (I'd have them 5th but ARK has fla, sc and georgia vs ole miss's vandy sc, and tenn)Ole Miss has talent and a decent coach, but expectations are too high, an injury or a few losses and they tank it- see moo st 08
5 ark
6 moo st

To put it in perspective, how many LSU fans think Vandy is a near "gimmie" win. Sure, we could lose, but we'd have to give it away. Ole Miss? Most fans think the Vandy game is 50-50

LSU has to play at Ole Miss is why I give them the edge.

Bama will have a new QB, and the we all saw what happened when their thin OL lost some key players. On the other hand, the D should be much better than '08.

How much better can their D be than '08? The offense will likely struggle, but b/c of their schedule, it should come down to the winner of Bama/LSU. Despite Ole Miss's easy schedule, I think ya'll are all reading too much into a victory over the 3rd-best Big 12 team that plays absolutely NO Defense; and a sleeping Florida team who looked like they didn't know that it was an afternoon kickoff.

LSU (homer)
Bama

Ole Miss (only b/c the other 3 are pitiful)

1. LSU - Defense will be greatly improved and players will know where to line up before every play. Talent is everywhere and the two deep has never looked stronger.

2. Alabama - Again, defense wins championships and bama will have a great one. Their green QB is likely to cost them a couple of road games and keep them out of the SECCG but if he plays mistake free football, Bama could move to the top.

3. Ole Miss - They have a nice team but far less depth than LSU or Bama in terms of top level talent on the two deep. They have enough talent in their starters to win the west but you have to be able to plug in players and win games the whole season to win a championship. They are one of those teams that will be one injury away from disaster.

4. Auburn - I think Arkansas will be the better team but Auburn has the easier schedule so I will give them the nod.

5. Arkansas - Could move up to #4 and will be improved but won't crack the top 3.

6. Miss St - New staff will have to implement an offense vastly different than anything State has ever run. It will take more than one offseason to get thigs turned around in Starkvegas.

I think this is one of the most exciting seasons the west has seen in a while.

It's exciting to Bama because Auburn sucks...right?

You have a new qb with no signficant playing time in the SEC. People are banking that Mallet is decent and doesn't come out misfiring like J. Lee.

1.LSU (defense will be MUCH improved)
2.Ole Miss (the ONLY reason I put them here is b/c the other 4 teams will be going through major growing pains, but they will NOT be as good as everyone thinks they will be--NUTT is overrated as a coach, yet above average. The has never been able to be a dominate coach)
3.Alabama (will win/lose some games they shouldn't, but expect them to be similar to the 2002 LSU team)
4.Auburn (Gus Malzahn is definitely their x-factor, and Chizik is a good defensive mind. they will be better than many think, and a possible "upset" team)
5.Arkansas - Defense is why I ranked them here. Mallett is a great QB, but I don't know that they have the "SEC-style" defense just yet)
6.Miss St. - Think Rich Rodriguez last year trying to instill the spread in a once-NFL-type offense. It could be bad)

There is no possible way it can get any worse, we have not been in the top 100 in total offense in 5 years. Bad will be an improvement.

1.) LSU- Les made all the right moves on the coaching staff. The defense will be back Jordan Jefferson will need to take care of the ball (no small task as we saw last year).

2a.) Ole Miss- Snead is back but the loss of Oher will hurt the offensive line as will the loss of Peria Jerry.

2b.) Alabama- Lost Wilson, Coffee and Andre Smith but the defense will be awesome but Saban good for one bad loss each year.

4.) Arkansas- Ryan Mallat will be the new qb in all likelihood and they ended the year on a high not by beating LSU Petrino is going to make the Hog a contender while he is there which could be short given the track record.

5.) Auburn- I still think they made a mistake by firing Tuberville and getting Chizik but the Auburn defense should not drop off because of his reputation as a defensive coach. But how will they score?

6.) Miss. St.- As good a job as Sly Croom was able to do he could not get the bulldogs into a winning state. Mullen has been a part of success perhaps he can bring that to Starkvegas.

Ole Miss is going to be strong. lost four games last year by a combined 14 points. but i give the edge to LSU bc of the talent edge. tiebreaker goes to LSU for the head to head victory.

Bama.... Breaking in a new QB and thinking their D is going to top notch. Sound familiar. LSU of 08.

I had trouble picking the 4th team. I think everybody is down on Auburn bc of 08, but i think they got a chance to suprise.

Arkansas has a got a year or two in my opinion before they get serious. but as much as i hate to admit it i think they will be pretty solid under Petrino.

I dont think Miss St will ever be relevant in the West much less the SEC

Nutt has never done well with lofty expectations. Don't expect anything to change this year.
