Yes he will, he could survive a 4-8 season, the buyout is still way to big

"Big Money Power Brokers" have already been mobilized and are preparing for action. If the ULSU Fighting Tigers don't make the CFP next season, BK will NOT be fired, but will be forced into a negotiated retirement/resignation and be paid a nice settlement a la Orgeron. Fact. Watch it happen if WE don't make the playoffs in 2025.

The fan base is going to want him fired after our first lost. If we lose four regular season games again and aren’t even on the playoff bubble, he’ll be gone.

Everybody will be unhappy with 8-4.
But only a few will have to deal with weighing the pain of 8-4 against the pain of writing checks for $51 million .And that $51 million will just be a starter compared to the expense of new coach, buying out contracts of former staff, hiring new staff, and starting all over with NIL investments when players start to leave....
This is the most realistic post in this thread.

Nah. Many on this board seem ok with 8-4.

This type of stupidity seems to permeate this board.

Nobody is "ok" with 8-4, not as a consistent basis or desired outcome.
As a basement, it really isn't that bad. It's a damn sight better than .500, which we had 2 straight years of.
And let's be honest- if we scheduled a cupcake opener like 90% of the P4, we're looking at 10-2, 10-2, 9-3 the past 3 years.
If you want to blow that up because "that's not good enough", be fully aware that we can become Nebraska/Tennessee/Florida/Auburn etc and crater out, with every new hire. Are you so sure we're at the point where we need to risk that right now?

With the schedule LSU has....which having Clemson added to it, is just plain insanity, and a very good way to get a coach fired.
I think LSU will go either 9-3 or 7-5, depending on how our kickers perform when the game is on the line at the end of the game.
LSU, like every winning team, had better start prioritizing ST and especially our PK's and Punters. LSU is way behind the better teams.

Wrong, they arent happy, but they are realistic, 51 million is way to much and that guaranteed in his contract.

Id love to hear the names of those "Big Money Brokers"

Playoffs or he's gone. They're not going to keep paying championship level money to end up in the Texas Bowl.

8 - 4 would be fricking sad.
Not a fan of 9-3 either.

That being said- there will be 50 ND/Marcus Freeman threads everyday

Clemson will be tough. I think Ole Miss should be easier considering Dart and WR gone. Bama road will always be tough, but certainly easier than years past. Oklahoma, well I hope they stay at the level they are at. They hae #1 transfer QB coming in from Washington St.

Then he should be fired for riding Nussmeier for 2 seasons and not adding a transfer QB

Interesting take.

Let's not and say we did.

8-4 is a real possibility with several tough road games and South Carolina and Florida trending I the right direction.

This is literally the case in the SEC every year. When SC and Florida start to dip, Auburn and Tenn get better and the cycle goes and goes.

Nussmeier is the 2nd ranked qb in the conference. He was 2nd in passing yds and tied for 1st in TDs...only stat he couldve improved on was the ints.

Nussmeier finished 7th or 8th in just about every relevant efficiency metric.

He had a lot of TDs & Yards because he threw more than everyone else.

If LSU goes 8-4 next year then Nussmeier will not have played well.

You do realize that Nuss will be a day 1 draft pick right? I mean if he’s good enough to be drafted period he’s good enough to start in college.
