Pre covid, NIL, conference realignment going bonkers, world chaos, transfer portal overdrive…baws, we won the last normal national title and we are forever tGOAT. I’m sure there are still a lot of diehards and i salute you but i hardly really care these days.

The mystique of following recruiting is completely gone with NIL, and these inorganic conferences are a joke. Players transferring in and out like penn station. Etc.

I Credit to uga for last season but the whole 2020 season was a farce (sorry gumps, you have like 15 other ones to fall back on)

I knew i could feel it slipping away from a personal standpoint when we lost to ucla and i was just like “ehhh” and moved on with my life whereas previously I’d have been partaking in tMelt the rest of the weekend.

Come labor day weekend I’ll be ready to watch us play Florida state but that excitement and exhilaration that used to be there going into June just isnt there and hasn’t been for a couple years. Maybe I’m just getting old but the above reasons aren’t helping.

Please don’t take this the wrong way if cfb and especially LSU fb is like Christmas morning to you, i envy you, really.

To the 2019 LSU Tigers

Yes, we’re all very glad it happened

But for real, I consider myself lucky to have seen it happen in my adult life. I’ve made peace with the fact that it will never be better, and extremely unlikely to be equaled. You can’t reasonably expect that again if you’re rational

And as the game has changed since then, I’m even more satisfied to have lived through it. It’s changed how I watch games now. Sure I hope we win, but don’t get nearly as invested. And I’m ok with that

There's really no arguing it. College football has completely jumped the shark.

This’ll be like the third year in a row I’ll need to constantly be looking at the roster in game just to see which player is wearing which number. Used to know it by heart heading into fall camp

no question, and not saying that as just an LSU fan.

Even if LSU wins in 22 or 23 it will be under far different terms that what any of us fans are used to if we're over 20 years old.

I’d been like that for years before 2019 seemingly reignited my passion for CFB

It didn’t last long

All this “let’s give up on college football because it’s changed” crap is weak. Why does it even have to matter how we get the players to the school? Many said we paid Doc Fenton in 1908. And y’all are pretending it’s all over.

College Football reached its pinnacle under the BCS. It was an imperfect system that fit an imperfect competition almost perfectly.

It’s ironic that LSU was the victim of the theft that resulted in the demise of the BCS which started the destruction of College Football, and then won the last championship before it all blew up.

2019 was the greatest season ever.

But this sort of whiny post about how college football is ruined is pathetic.

We're losing now so college football is broken. It's everybody elses fault

Pathetic.

We'll come roaring back. Keep it together man!

Agree on all counts. I’ll always be glad I was at that one.

I just don’t see how this ends with anything other than minor league football. Entities separate from the AD with unionized players. Might not even be enrolled students. I really don’t think that’s a reach.

I’ll still watch and root for LSU, but it won’t be the same product.

Just about everyone feels that way. We are connected to the university and the student-athletes just aren’t anymore. The pageantry of college football that came alongside the love for the game and school you represented is slipping away.

The only people I’ve noticed that are still as enthusiastic are sidewalk fans.

Had LSU won in 2011 vs OkSt, it would have been the greatest season ever.... until 2019.
But the rematch killed the BCS.

Then this year UGA showed why the playoff, and specifically rematches suck for the winner of the 1st game.

College was great because every game mattered.
Hell, most bowls used to matter.
It's a shame what's happened for money.

This sounds so extreme but what happened in 2019 with LSU was very healthy for me.

I got way too upset watching them in 2018 against TAMU. Possibly the most upset I've ever been as an adult watching that game. I remember telling myself that I can't care as much anymore. I just can't. The next time they lose I'll realize that I'm a grown man and these are kids.

And then I got to watch 2019 LSU and I know in my heart that it will never be that good again. It will never be that much fun. I will never get as invested as I was that year, no matter what sport, no matter if they are winning or losing.

2019 LSU was so good it almost killed all other sports for me. LSU lost in baseball and I didn't care. They lost in basketball and I didn't care. We went 6-6 in football, the worst season I've ever seen as an LSU fan, and I did not care.

The cheese has been moving probably about every 10 years. NIL is just the most public change. If we want to keep winning, we have to adapt.

It used to be a religion to me. A yearly ritual… Ramping up to opening day and waiting for the tickets to arrive. Now, with all the NIL and transfer portal business, it’s just a self-serving shark feed for the players. I feel like our loyalty as fans is being taken for granted. After 30+ years as a TAF member, I’ve lost all interest. Sad…. I don’t even know who our running backs are and don’t care to know.
