The whole premise of your post is stupid. How does it make it easy on Alleva?

I explained this. Read it again.
quote:

A disinterested fanbase is not a win for Alleva.

The fan base is not disinterested enough to matter.
quote:

Alleva doesn't need the job or the aggravation

Apparently he wants the job or he wouldn’t take the job. He sees no aggravation. I’m sure he doesn’t read tRant every night. The only people he sees that matter are Alexander and right now he’s getting nothing but approving pats on the back.
quote:

He certainly doesn't want to invite a shite storm if Orgeron bottoms out, which is possible.

It’s pisdible but it hasn’t happened and is probable that O will keep having winning seasons and bowls. He won’t win championships but Alleva and his bosses don’t care about that.
quote:

In football you're either progressing or regressing. If Orgeron can't keep the talent up and the product on the field is boring or the results are pedestrian, decline will accelerate.

LSU is treading water. They are passed by Alabama and A&M but that’s okay. They can still win and go to bowls. They are happy. Regarding talent, O has the #5 ranked recruiting class on the way. They don’t care if the product is boring. They don’t care about style.
quote:

You're right about one thing: hiring a coach is high risk.

Which is why Alleva is thrilled and O is safe so long as winning seasons continue.

I do not give these away cheaply, but this is one of the best posts I have read in a long time.

Insert 300 Morgan Freeman memes.

As a lifelong fan and alumn, it is beyond a rock and a hard place for me to say that I turn my back. I do not have season tickets in football anymore, but I made 4 games this year and that is the most I have made in 4 years. I actually have season tix in basketball and baseball.

I love my school but have disengaged quite a bit even though I still watch on television.

Some poster put the 2001 LSU vs Auburn game on with Franklin, Gottfried, and Karsten. Man...that's what I miss. Where is that? Where is that 1997 atmosphere? It went up in corporate smoke. Money over everything. You would think the Wu-Tang Clan owns LSU football and F King and Joe. Cash rules everything around me. CREAM. get the money...

From purely cynical viewpoint if the SEC is rigged for Bama (sure seems that way) there's no way that changes
/sigh/

Was the SEC also rigged for Florida in the 90s and from 2005-10 when they dominated?

Or maybe it was another reason.

Alabama hired Saban, started winning championships and the enrollment of the school went from 20,000 to 40,000. See what a little vision can do. But you have to pay for it, the AD.

As soon as Coach O started being mentioned for Coach of the Year honors, whether deserved or not, any chance of a replacement for a couple of years died. Why the frick would Alleva risk another potential frick up unless he feels he has to? When your coach is in that discussion, you sure as hell don’t have to regardless of the Rant discussions. Yes, atmosphere/fan experience has diminished but folks are still buying the tickets.

Everybody here already knows everything you just said.

Nobody ever mentions it because it makes us all collectively, sick.

Thanks for making us throw up in our mouths this afternoon

Everything was fairly accurate except this:

quote:

and A&M is passing you on the left.

This ain't gonna happen. LSU will curb stomp the Aggies next year and put them back where they belong. I remember when people were saying this about Mississippi State, and what makes you think A & M is going to pass us "on the left?" Jimbo Fisher?

Aggie best us after a week of people here saying that was impossible.

State wrecked our shite in '17, then Mullen left. So we beat them this year. How'd we do against Mullen this year against his new school?

We just lost to them when we had better talent. They are out recruiting us this year and probably next. With our current staff we will not be putting them “back in their place”.

I don't agree with what's going on and believe Alleva and Alexander are absolute jokes and that Orgeron was a TERRIBLE hire. I have also made the same point the OP has made many times: As long as the money is coming Joe will do nothing until the fans get restless. However, this chicken little shite about A & M, et al, is just over the top.

Regardless, why isn't TAF raising sand about what's going on? We've heard for years they actually run the athletic department. You would think they could force some kind of change.

I’ve seen it happen. In the early nineties, the 72,000 seat stadium was half to 2/3 full for most home games.

Sat through many of those. Tumbleweeds and crickets in the stadium. It was a sad sight to behold.

He is responsible for all sports and LSU is in a pretty good shape. Just look at USC, their AD is keeping Clay Helton.

I have to agree with you that I don’t believe they are... sure there are signs that they are... they are playing better and tougher... but... this isn’t Florida state, and it’s not the ACC... they did lose to auburn and miss st, I thought they were going to be pretty even with them and I actually think they will stay in that realm for a while, they don’t have the history Florida st has... you have to learn to win and I question if he can do that there. That’s a very big task for a university that’s known as “little brother” in the state. Sure they have tons of money, but texas kids are very sketchy, the kids with shite in their necks generally don’t go to those schools, They go east and they go north. The pre-madonnas go there. It’s what cost Mack brown his job... tamu is no different. Many are spoiled and have been given everything. la has the “don’t have anything to lose kids... it’s a problem that jimbo didn’t know about when he took that job... texas kids are hit or miss... just because they have big stadiums over here and “texas high school football” doesn’t mean they are better... I go home and see LA teams and think shite, they’d beat the piss out of Katy...I think he will have tamu even with what we are doing now. 8-9 wins. Which honestly is doing a “great” job. I think they will pass by auburn for #3 in the west and will cost malazahn his job, not oregeron. I still think we destroy them next year in our house and put a damper in his second recruiting year. Next year, we have everyone back on offense, and a stud rb with two fantastic TEs... defense loses two guys. We are in very good shape for next year vs TAMU. I actually think our offense takes off next year... even with ensminger... the whole line comes back with lots of depth and a year of getting stronger... yes I’d rather have briles or freeze but year two of his system with everyone back bodes well for anyone as OC

And I was the one that said look out for tamu, they are a different team this year than in last years. They believe in fisher. The two games I picked is to lose this year besides bama and Georgia were Florida and tamu. It was setup perfectly for both to happen. But I think he will run into a wall that I’m not sure he can get over there. The biggest negative thing that happened sat night is it gave them confidence that they could win... but, because of the refs, false confidence often leads to disaster... they will not know how to play next year with a target on their backs... pressure will get to those players, not jimbo...you saw it on the ints and fumbles mistakes. Refs won’t save them every game...

And one last thing. His class is done. 25 guys, as everyone else fills up, they will drop, I fully expect LSU to pass them, along with 5-7 other teams.. still top10-12 but not top 5... which honestly they should be top ten every year because of the star rating numbers in texas

Yep.

Other in has earned my respect as a HC. The OC has not. Yes, that OC was hired by him... but sometimes you take a shot and miss. Keep shooting.

The only thing they understand is $. Tiger fans need to boycott: maybe 30,000 sit at home and see if they change their tune.
