As an act of good faith. If someone throws a crapton of money at him and he denies because of his loyalty to the program, you return it by giving him a little more if you can afford it. if not, when the next offer comes, he may say to himself "well if my loyalty is appreciated...."

back on topic - I don't have a problem with him getting a raise.. Lots of people get raises at their jobs every year for just showing up.. He's done a great job. Substantial raises should be reserved for substantial accomplishments though. SEC championship.. National Championship...

This! Plus, look at the new TV contracts, stadium expansion, hell, even raising the parking cost. There is a bigger pot of money to go around and you start by giving some to the head football coach.
For all the people crying on here about the pay raise, stop wasting your time bitching and go look up the salaries from the 90's for;
Bobby Bowden
Steve Spurrier
Phil Fulmer
Lou Houltz
and any others that repeatedly finish the season in the top 10-15. It's called inflation and all coaches salaries in the major conferences will continue to go up as long as you are winning and the money continues to pour in as it is now.

let him go to ARK, it would be an easy win every year for LSU.
Miles gets as much from LSU as we get from, IF NOT MORE. And im not just speaking about money.

Once that offer was official, it showed his market value went up. regardless of your feelings, I feel like you are smart enough to know the ramifications if LSU doesn't offer him more money.

There were contract talks all year. He's not getting a new contract because of Arky. You're dumb if you really believe that.
