I remember hearing that Saban told Skip that Jimbo wasn't ready. No idea if true though.

Les was our 5th choice according to Bertman. There was no reason to hire him over Jimbo.

He lost 41-7 to Auburn in 2014.

How'd the last GAME look? How do you think the next few SEC games are gonna look?

Good SEC coaches don't just grow on trees. It's gonna be a tough lesson but we're all about to learn it together.

do most of you think Miles' tenure at LSU WAS BAD?
the 2nd half was pretty crappy, especially the last 3rd. Most wasted talent ever. A lot of that is on Chavis, too, though.

He also told him to hire Houston Nutt. So much for Saban's insight on that one.

FTFY

Les Miles' hat is a better football coach than Alleva is an AD (and I felt it was time to move on from Miles - but not to just not do a search and hire the first guy who "wants" the job.)

This is what you wanted, Tiger Fans. Enjoy it.

To understand that it was time for LM to go doesn't necessitate that you wanted the AD to hire a person to replace him who is totally unqualified. The 2 decisions aren't mutually dependent on each other.

How do you feel about the last half/third of Saban's tenure here?

Bertman asked Saban on his way out if he should give the job to Jimbo and he told Skip that Jimbo wasn't ready. That's why Jimbo still has an ax to grind with Saban to this day.

Jesus Christ, LSU wasn't going to hire a fricking coordinator to take over when Saban left. Not only was Mike Archer a fresh memory back in the early 2000s, but we were losing a Natty winning coach to the NFL. Our administration back then understood optics...we were a top 10 job losing one of the best coaches in the game and we weren't going to replace Saban with someone whose resume lacked HC experience.

Point being Miles was certainly no longer the answer. If O don't work out he gotta go too.
