I think you need to pump the brakes a bit on this. Look at what we did last season. We lost a ton from a really great team. The whole rotation was new. Key position players graduated. You can't expect to live up to the expectations we set just last season. We'll rebound next season. Paul deserves a long leash for his past success.

Spring Game

Finally getting around to watch the game. I know everyone is talking up McMillan, but I wasn't all that impressed. Re-watch the big throws he made. Most were under-thrown and the receivers made big plays to help him out. Looks like a quicker Etling; won't be pretty if he wins the job.

Brennan was terrible; enough said there.

Personally, I think Narcisse is the guy that gives us the best chance to win. Didn't play great in the game but I saw more potential than the other two.

Kudos to Edwards-Helaire, the wide receivers, and the linebackers who I thought all looked very impressive.

I think the decline actually started before that and it all boils down to one event. Ryan Perriloux getting kicked off the team. 2011 was a pleasant anomaly.

This isn't the result of Etling playing poorly. This loss can't be placed on him at all. I think O just realizes this is a rebuilding year (even though no one can stand the thought of that) and it's time to prepare for the future.

After thinking it over, I'm inclined to agree w/ what he said about LSU now being just an average program. And it didn't happen overnight.

They definitely don't play like freshman. Cudos to our coaching staff for getting those boys ready to ball.
Their defense is legit. If our "offensive resurgence" is legit, this'll be the game to show it. If not, I expect a low-scoring, grind-it-out, type of game.

Meant 2012. My bad.

I felt like this required adequate explanation. After years of backing "More for Les", turns out it was the complete opposite haha

Les with more?

Before I start this thread, I just want to say that I'm super excited about the new regime and truly believe that we will soon be back among the top 5 teams year in and year out. After saying that, I just want to pose the question of do you think anyone in the history of college football has done less with more talent than Les Miles? Sure, we'd win at least 10 games every year and, of course, there was the 07 championship, but let's break that down. If you look at the '05, '06, '07, '11, '12, '13, '15, '16 squads, all of those were legit NC contenders. How many actually were in consideration? Only '07 and '11. And that '07 team needed A TON of help to get there even though we were definitely the most talented team. Also, at least 11 of the starters on that NC team were Saban recruits. We all know what happened in '11 :wah: '05 we can put some of that on the hurricane as well as Texas/USC just rolling through the reg season. But the other 5 years, we just lost games that we had no business losing and continually fell out of contention. Not to say Les isn't a good dude, but he was a terrible coach. He was a great recruiter and his players played their tails off for him, which I believe is why we were as successful as we were. Look at the talent we continually send to the NFL. We also were incredibly lucky and fortunate at other times (Auburn '07, Tenn '10, Auburn '12 just to name a few) But I also truly believe that if we hire another qualified candidate (such as promoting Jimbo Fisher) after Saban left in '04 that we could be sitting where Bama is currently ruling college football. At least for the last 11-12 years. Les really burnt himself and all of Tiger Nation because he could've been the head guy for establishing one of the most successful dynasties ever. Thanks to the talent gap Les inherited when he took the job, it took a few years to start to see everything unravel which is why Les got a pass until '09, '10 got people talking again. '11 helped him get back in the good graces but after that Bama rematch, the writing was on the wall. It's a shame that it took as long as it did causing us to waste so much talent.

Now that I got that off my chest, it's time to move on and get ready to see Coach Oeaux pick up the pieces and move us back to yearly title contention. Geaux Tigers!
