Do you all really feel he will get fired this year if he goes 8-4? That means playing .500 ball the rest of the year.
not a chance

They must not read the Rant.

well we are seeing what florida is doing without him. i am patient. we are 4 and 0. it hasn't been pretty but it's been effective. i saw improvement in each game except this one. and i'm not talking about JJ. I'm talking about the passing game period. it took a while for chavis system on defense to take full stride and look at them now. offense really is right there. i think it's up to the coaches to find that last little spark. the last piece. could it be lee? maybe. could it be this last game inspiring everyone to come together? i hope. But wiz and gonzo need to find it.

Anyone that thinks Les Miles is not a good coach is
in itself.
Is he a great coach? Probably not, and that's where the fears are with most LSU fans at the moment, and that is exacerbated by the fact that one of our main division rivals does indeed have a great coach, not to mention our permanent Eastern opponent also has one of the best in the business at the moment.
The program will never "crumble" under Miles. He recruits too well and is too good of a "program manager." That said, a consistent 8-4/9-3 is not going to cut it with most of us, and therin lies the fears for most of us. Anyone expecting LSU to collapse is in for a disappointment, because it's simply not going to happen under Miles' leadership the next few years. Hell, the last two years have arguably been the worst two seasons of the decade for LSU, yet we still rank 3rd in the SEC in wins in that timespan.
Miles is much more similar to Mack Brown than he is to a Larry Coker IMO. Fortunately for Mack Brown, however, is the Big12 is much more easy to navigate than the SEC on a long-term basis.

To use a phrase from Miles himself-- judgment should be on a body of work. 8-8 in SEC is poor. If he loses to ARK, Alabama, Auburn, and Florida then his SEC record speaks for itself over the past 3 years!

the same angle i used last year. we are not even considered in top 2 teams in the west anymore like we were. The trend has certainly been negative especially if we lose to the Big 4 games we have left on the schedule. If these losses are embarrassing which I hope they are not, it will get interesting after the season.

LSU could lose the rest of their games, and Miles won't be fired at the end of the season. With his huge buyout and the budget cuts at LSU it would create a political firestorm. And don't say that it would be TAF bailing him out, it would still be a publicity nightmare for LSU.

nah i'm pretty sure he'd be gone.
i am pretty sure by the time ole miss rolled around TS would be 50% full if we lost all our games up until then.
the buyout is overrated. the cost of keeping a lame duck coach for a full year is much more than firing him.

I used to support Les Miles with a passion, I love LSU and I have a great want for them to succeed and that is exactly why I have decided that we need to fire his dumb arse! I can't bear this cross any longer,....I love any player who wears an LSU uniform and works hard and does his best. I care about Jordan Jefferson, but that has little to do with the success of this team. He needs to grab a cliboard and stand on the sidelines for awhile and watch another hardworking student athlete have his chance. Jarrett Lee can do no worse and deserves his chance again. If nothing else JJ might gain some confidence if JL messes up and he might feel less pressure to excel. He might learn something, he might get motivated, and JL might actually improve our offense's production, he might open up the run with a threat of a completed pass and most importantly I will never see that option to the short side again. If Les Miles stays on after this year, Crowton definitely must go, the sooner the better!!!!!!!!!

I would love to see what our stats would be if we had fewer penalties and drops

they had the money last year and certainly have it this year.

I agree Chicken. The environment after losing to Florida, Auburn, Alabama, and Arky would simply be intolerable. If Miles was not fired, he would want to voluntarily move on to get away. A negotiated settlement would be reached.
8-4 and he's gone.
8-4 and he's gone.

Hard to say, but at least 2-2.

If this year's offense tells you anything it is that Miles is NOT a good coach.
Ok. So if we use your logic, Miles IS a good coach because of the defense.
You can't have the argument just one way.

If you can read between the lines in that email our AD sent out wrapping up the 09 season, he had a softer approach than you but sent a warning shot out nevertheless. imo

and i'm not forgetting that billy g.'s receivers aren't helping Jefferson too much.
Miles staff has had little more success in developing receivers than quarterbacks.
